Question PCOS helpful Doctor in Las Vegas?

I am going to a reproductive endo who is wary of putting me on Met because my test reults show I am not IR- my Insulin levels are below normal, and blood sugar levels normal. Ive read Met can help even if you arent Insulin resistant with PCOS symptoms and would like to try it. So now I am looking for a doctor who really knows PCOS and the available treatment options. Cant seem to find one recommended in the Las Vegas area...with it being such a big city you would think there would be at least one?
Help! Im fairly new to this city and dont know where to turn for a good doctor, so far Ive gotten a huge run around just getting diagnosed, I dont want to have to continue this trend.

I am here in Vegas also, I actually started seeing Dr. Fisch @ the Sheer Medical Institute he is the one that prescribed the Metformin for me, everyone else would just put me on the bcp even if they knew I was trying to have a baby my own GP told me well that is the only thing there is for PCOS.

I would try Dr. Fisch the only other endo I saw was Dr. Berelowitz and he just prescribed diet pills and that was it.

Good Luck in your search...

Hi Poogirl
thanks for responding. glad to know im not the only one in Vegas with this problem. Is Dr. Fisch a reproductive Endo or what kind of doctor is he? where is he located? Im not familiar with the Sheer Medical Institue but Ive not been here terribly long either. does he seem like hes willing to work with you on different treatment options? My GP also told me that there is nothing that can be done for pcos...suggested Rogaine as my only option for help with my hair loss, which i cant use because it makes my scalp break out horribly. then she gave me a referral to see a derm about my skin issues like acne, oily skin and excess hair. she also gave me a referral to see a cardiologist about an irregular heartbeat and heart mumur. not sure how no doctor but her in 31 years ever noticed that before. maybe it just popped up as a new problem associated with all this other stuff? anyway with the cardiologist that will make 10 different doctors in 3 years. yikes! which is why i want to find a good one and stick with him/her for the pcos thing. im concerned that the one im seeing now isnt as versed on the syndrome as maybe she should be. i definately want to try anything but the bcp first, and thats the next thing she wants to get me to try becuae she doesnt think Met will benefit me. they never did a thing for me before other than giving me side effects.

I'll jump in here and say that I also saw Dr. Fisch at the Sher Institiute. He is a repro endocrinologist. They specialize in getting you pregnant moreso than "treating" your PCOS. When I first mentioned going on metformin, he seemed kind of resistant but I was a pain in the butt and printed up a study done by a doctor he respected and he prescribed it. After that, I've heard he is prescribing it more routinely to his PCOS patients which is wonderful. They have a website with a message board which I found to be very helpful during my time with them. Sher Institute
The doctors are on the boards all the time to answer questions from people.

If you have any other questions about him/them, I'd be happy to try and help. I saw him from 5/02 to 1/03.
