Question PCOS and hypertension

Ladies,

Is anyone out there suffering w/ PCOS and hypertension (or pre-hypertension)? I have been taking a water pill now since Jan '08 for borderline hypertension. It just appeared out of nowhere.

If anyone is in the same boat, have you tried any homeopathic/holistic remedies that work and you can recommend? --Thanks!

You might want to post down in the Alternative Remedies forum for holistic suggestions...

i have hypertension too.. now its extremely heridtary in my family.. i think i would of ended up with it eventually even if i was skinny. but i think alot of it has to do with the weight.. i'm on verapamil 300 mg XR.. i was started out at 240 MG it helped it but it still wasn't quite the normal range so my dr bumped it up somemore and now my blood pressure has been normal ever since

I also suffer from hypertension, but is also extremely hereditary. I honestly can not think of a family member that does not have it. I am currently on Lisinopril 40 mg, Toporol 25 mg X 2 a day, and a 12.5 mg diuretic, it has an extremely long name. The doctors usually abbrevate it HCT. I am very much overweight, but I think I will have high blood pressure no matter what.

Mine is also hereditary. I know weight loss, lessen your salt intake, and meditation/stress relaxtion can all help lower your BP naturally although I don't know of any herb etc that works like the prescriptions. I am on Hydroclhorothiazide 12.5mg a day and I went from 150/100 to 120/80 so it's worked wonders for me. Good luck.

Check out the DASH diet. It's great at reducing blood pressure and makes you feel great, too. It requires lots and lots of fruits and veggies. It may seem like more than you can handle at first, but it's not as hard as it seems.

It may be incompatible with spironolactone, however. I'm going to speak to my doctor about that.
