Unhappy PCOS or HYPOTHYROID- waaaahhhhh!!!!!

I figured I'd check here on the hypo board, since I'm now really confused I posted these labs on the "newbie" board, wondering wether or not anyone thinks I have PCOS.....I am very symptomatic....very hirtuse, in fact Ive been going to laser for a bout a year, and while it DEFINATELY has helped, it still keeps coming back!!!! My laser tech agreed with me that I should be "done", that a "normal" (haha) patient would be finished with the treatment by now. She is aware of PCOS, and believes I may have it, but shares my frustrations in trying to get a diagnosis!!!!!!

I've been reading up alot more on hypothyroid, and lots of the symptoms overlap....the resistance I'm running into with the PCOS diagnosis is that I have VERY regular periods, never really skipped, and had NO trouble getting pregnant. I just had these labs taken at my 4th Dr., and they said my labs were "inconclusive", and that I prob did NOT have PCOS. But of course, NO suggestion as to what I MIGHT have!!!!! They want me back for a 2nd sonohystogram to check for fibroid/polyps, [possibly the cause for my heavy periods] I had one done back in OCt, but the dr did it right before my period, and said I was fine...I dont suppose you could really tell much about the lining of my uterus a few days before my period, when it would have been "built up" and ready to shed.... so now, the new dr wants to do it again and look at my ovaries....they can't co ordinate this appointment and have given me an appointment that will be similar in time as the other....a waste of my time!!!( BTW, my period came early this month, @ 24 days, and it was very very light, not like MY period at all..) any ideas on this?

But so sorry to RAMBLE ON.......MY TSH is "NORMAL", but the way I undertsand it, my "NORMAL" could be real low, as low as the .3 "NORMAL" right? SO am I correct in saying that even though my TSH is "NORMAL" it's not "NORMAL" for ME...and that could be why I feel so crappy and tired and headaches, and CANNOT LOSE WEIGHT!!!! I believe I weigh now as much as I did when I was about 8 month pregnant.....over 3 years ago....and its not like I dont "DIET & EXERCISE", I know more about the subject than anybody would want to know...lol...
MY free T3 and Free T4 are just a skinch away from being LOW. Is this criteria for being hypo? I never actually saw my labs that one dr didon antibodies...they just INSISTED I was "NORMAL", I dont know much about anti bodies....do you eithr have them or not, or is it a level??? ( the same lab that told me when I asked for my INSULIN and not my glucose that I was "fine- you do not have diabetes" NO s#!* SHERLOCK!!!!!!!

Anybody- if you have anything to tell me, your own story or just your honest opinion about where I should go next...please please let me know..Im feeling soooo depressed right now.......

Glucose (fasting) useless, i know....87
TSH 1.365 up from 1.252 in sept

It took me about 3 years to be found with Hashimoto's...I felt awful after I had my 2nd child and everything went haywire. I kept telling my midwife and my doctors that something was wrong, but they kept telling me I was fine. My TSH was normal - like 1.5 or something. It wasn't until last summer when I went into some tests for lupus (which came back normal) that she saw in all the blood work that my TSH was 5.5. She then sent me for the T3 and T4 and also the test for anitbodies which should be under 35 - mine was 211. She suggested that I've had this problem for a while. Anyway, my point is that I'm not sure that the tests are accurate right away. Maybe you should be tested for the anitibodies which will show that your body is attacking the thyroid.

Good luck!

Maria

Thanks Maria

I do have a Dr's appointment next week, mostly for meds, but I am going to bring up the hypothyroid again. I've also been reading up more on hypothyroid, and I plan on bringing some info copied down for my Dr.

I did have antibodies tested, and both were under "2". My TSH is in "normal" range, but my free T3 and Free T4 are pretty low, just barely"normal". I still have my original labs, taken last august......and guess what...I still feel like crap!!! I also had an extremely low serum ferritin level last year,( prob from my HEAVY periods, which I now know is a hypo symptom!) taking iron helped, but I'm "still not right". I also find it odd that my weight, has been the same whenever I go to the drs....I say this because, I went complaining of not being able to lose weight as a symptom, well, this kinda proves it, I do eat right (mostly) and exercise, but the eating goes either way, because I get so frustrated with the little to no results, i decide "what difference does it make anyways???? My weight "sticks" at it's present number.....very depressing!

I'm not going to give up, thanks for your responses!

also, I've been following the IR diet, since Jan

I'm both PCOS and hypothyroid. For years I insisted that I felt "off" and my thyroid labs kept coming back in "low end of normal but still normal" range. This was with family practice people.

It wasn't til I brought up PCOS and referrerd to an endoc. for that ... and once there I brought up the thyroid stuff that I got thyroid meds. My values has jsut started to eek out of normal range by then so I don't know if it was seeing a specialist instea dof a family practice or the lab values or both that got me the dx and me feeling better.

I think it is entirely possible for it to be happening to you -- too show up in the low end of normal range, but still feel "off."

A.

I am most definately having a hard time getting a dr to believe me.....It's really really ridiculous at this point. I did make an appoint and go see a repro endocrinologist, I figured if it "wasn't" PCOS, then maybe some other endocrine/hormonal problem. Well, this lady was the biggest jerk I'd dealt with yet. She told me all my symptoms were "idiopathic"....ALL of THEM!!!!!!! So I was kind of disgusted with dr's for a while......
