Default pcos and IC

We lost our beautiful baby boy almost 8 wks ago. Started off with a little bleeding on 28th Apr midwife checked for heartbeat perfect 140bpm. Next day bleeding more purple/red mucus then early hrs next day waters broke. Had scan which confirmed waters gone no heartbeat. Billy was born 6pm Wed 30th Apr. Throughout all this I had no pain at all even when he was born. Midwife said thought it could be down to incompetent cervix. Does anyone know whether there is a link between pcos and Ic?

Nicky, I am so sorry about your loss of Billy! (((Hugs)))

There are far too many cysters with similar stories. I also had no pain at all, and even less warning ahead of delivering at 23 weeks. My doctor placed a preventative cerclage at 13 weeks with my future pregnancies, and that continuously told my cervix to stay where it belonged. It worked perfectly. But he did say my cervix was already soft at 13 weeks as it should be at 36 or more weeks instead, so he was very glad to have taken care of my pregnancies this way. I know in my gut and heart that it saved my babies and would be the top thing to work with in such similar cases as yours if you are looking to future pregnancies. [I had to have a plan in place ahead of time, or I just couldn't go forward.]

There are many of us around the board who do feel strongly there is a link between PCOS and IC, but there isn't research behind it. I'm sorry you've joined our club.

More hugs,
Sheri

Just google "is there a link between incompetent cervix and pcos" and you will find several links to forums but as the pp stated, I don't think there has been any definitive research to back this up.

First of all i'm so very sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to your family...i've been there and i too felt no pain, had no warning, and fought against the unfairness of it all

Doctors and statistics will say that only 2% if women have pcos and that even less have IC...well not on this board Search even in this very thread and you will read alot of info, losses and even triumphs over IC...take care and please take of yourself.

hugs

I am very sorry for your loss...I too lost (Twin G) at 22 weeks...no pain and no warning...Doctors also said it could be IC, but since then have HSG that shows no short cervix...my current doc also said you need to have to second tri losses to be diagnosed with IC...here in Australia they wont look at doing a certlage until you have lost 2...they said it was "just one of those things" If I had a $ for everytime someone said that to me I would be rich!!!! Take care..
