Points: 709.90 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 709.90 | PCOS and Lupus Connection? Hey Ladies... Yesterday I went to the Dr. and I found out some more news. I am running on the positive side of Lupus..I am taking that as I have it. Especially since my mother has it and my great-grandmother had it. I have the classic signs/symptoms of it...the "butterfly" rash, joint pain and inflammation, fever, extreme fatigue etc. Now I am just wondering have any of ya'll been diagnosed with this also? It seems like my body is falling apart on me. I also was wondering if anyone else had been diagnosed with high cholesterol, IBS, I also have TMJ which I don't think has any correlation to all this. Anyway, I am just looking for some help with this one. I am 23 years old and am beginning to feel like my body is out to get me. LOL. Meghan Medications: Glucophage *2000 mg Ov-Con35 Zocor Cymbalta *60 mg Lunesta Singulair Topamax Multi-Vitamin

It's one of about 30 labs he ordered, and i did'nt read them all earlier, so did'nt ask what the connection might be, but since he ordered it, i assume it is somehow related to pcos. |

The first one I saw said it was Rheumatoid Arthritis instead. I changed doctors and he won't confirm the RA diagnosis because he thinks this might be lupus or rhupus (lol) which is a combination of both diseases. I don't know that it has any relation to PCOS but I am going to ask my endocrinologist when I see him next week.

I have since found out that my cousin has lupus as well but nobody else in my family does. They are getting me in to see a rheumatologist and it is a possibility that I don't have lupus is what my doctor says.I am completely lost as to what is going on I am only 21 and since the day I turned 17 or 18 I have has all these problems. |

You obviously have something rheumatic going on in your body, though. A rheum will run more tests and hopefully get to the bottom of things. My ANA came back positive in December and my new rheumatologist always looks for lupus signs when I go for RA visits. The most important thing you can do for yourself right now is to listen to your body. If it says to rest, then rest. Pushing yourself will do nothing but take you longer to regain your energy. Also, try to avoid the sun. If you do indeed have lupus, you will need to be very careful as the UV rays can trigger a flare of the disease.

Then just a couple weeks ago I had started bleeding with and without bowel movements, cramping and alot of mucus about 5 to 6 times a day. so my doctor ordered a colonoscopy and diagnosed me with IBD/ulcerative proctitis and I have been using suppositories which have relieved the bloating and constipation and the fact that I switched to Fiber silk vanilla soy milk again! Every time I go to a doctor all I ever get is YOU ARE TOO YOUNG YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT,why has this been said so much I don't think age matters anymore because they said oh you can't get colon cancer until you get older but yet I know of a 15 year old boy who has it.Then the OBGYN says you are too young to get cervical cancer you are fine and then find out that a 22 year old has it.Sometimes I swear it seems that doctors don't even care or listen to you. |

My docs are going to keep an eye on it.....i.e. if I were to develop more symtoms they would redo the testing. My grandmother had lupus. No problems currently!
