i would say something that had maybe some scientific articles up to date info etc on the syndrome and various meds and alternative treatments that could help woul be good,
also perhaps some stories of women who have got to where they want with their body and the methods they have used, could also follow some women on their quest, keep diaries etc. so something motivational
also something lighthearted, pcos can tend to take over your life trying to control it so something with humour would be great.
it sounds like such a fab idea.

Just bouncing it back to the top of the list. Check out the last page for all the info. Found the new mag link and have book marked it. Will take some pages for my consultant when I see him again.
Good Job Linda.

Hi all. As I posted in "Cyster Initiatives," the first hard-copy of PCOS Today Magazine just debuted a few weeks ago. It's available at http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1278046 in either the hard-copy or downloadable format. There are some great articles in there about a recent PCOS textbook from a UK publisher, Angela Grassi's article on "is food the enemy?," an article from a newcomer writing about acupuncture and other homeopathic treatments, an electrologist who tells her story about fighting hair growth and PCOS, and an update from Ashley Tabeling at Project PCOS. I'm really proud of this first copy. The next issue will debut in December, and I'm looking for story ideas. If you're on Facebook, check out my "what's the one (or more) question(s) you'd like answered about PCOS" posts on the various PCOS pages.
At the same time, I kicked the design of the PCOS Today Magazine Web site up a notch. BEST VIEWED IN MOZILLA FIREFOX, it's still at http://www.pcostodaymagazine.com. I plan to add a "community" section to incorporate links to PCOS blogs, a PCOS wiki, and forums. Would love your ideas, input, etc. It continues to evolve!
Hope to hear from you soon! --- Linda

For the printed example, I agree. It will come down as more advertisers come on board. The downloadable version, however, I think is quite economical.

Ok, so MeMe's message has had me thinking the past half hour or so since I posted my original reply. How can I go about making this magazine free or really, really cheap? My area of expertise is in publication writing and design.
I'd love to hear from other Cysters who might have ideas of potential advertisers I could approach. I've got a few more on-board for the December issue.
I've also considered making the magazine completely and strictly downloadable.
I'd like to hear from everyone. Ideas, thoughts, comments. What can I do to make this magazine as economical for you?
Thanks!

Reason: Add'l thoughts
What about different doctors? They might advertise?
I guess I'm cheap but $4 for the download still sounds like a lot to me. I might pay $4 for the hardcopy but not to just download it to my computer.

I got it, Meme, I got it. Actually, most decent magazines cost in excess of $4.99, but I understand and honor your point.
This is still an experiment, a work in progress. It's evolving. I don't have the capital right now (up front) to have a bunch of copies published. My ultimate goal is, yes, to provide the magazine totally free of charge with advertising creating the revenue stream to print it, etc., but that's a little ways away. Right now, the option is print-on-demand, and it's flawed at best (due to the price of printing, etc.).
I will be adjusting the download price with the next issue. I provide the hard-copy option for those who want the "tangible" piece.
If anyone has a background in advertising and is willing to work on contract, give me a holler! --- Linda
