Default Magnesium deficiency

Hi
I got here about three weeks ago and got really interested in the whole magnesium issue. I do have symptoms of magnesium defieciency (and always have) and needless to say suffer from PCOS.
Anyway, I got magnesium (jus a normal kind) and have take two of the pills per day (140% of daily recommended amount) and I have just ovulated. Two weeks after I started taking the magnesium, 15th day of my cycle.
My cycles usually are about 42 days, probably ovulatory ones. I have never in my life, but for one month just being off the pills, have a 28 days long cycle. Never!
I know it might be a coincidence, but I feel optymistic. All the other stuff, including tiredness, nervousness problems with sleeping are gone.
Tell me what you think. I am afraid I got tiny bit too optymisitc.

By the way, my PCOS is slight, meaning that I do have an incorrect ratio of LH/FSH (2.4) and do have cycts on my ovaries but no other syptoms. I want to take magnesium till December and then do the hormonal blood test and magnesium level test to see how it looks like.

My doc has just started me on Clomid 50mg. Does anyone know how diet/exercise can help control insilin resistance w/out the metformin....im def gonna try the magnesium vitamin, but wanted to know what else I could do naturally. Any baby success with clomid and diet alone?

Since taking mag, my hair growth have slowed down tremendously! Just the way met used to do for me. Instead of plucking every other day, I am plucking every other week, the hair growth is so slow. That's all that I am recognizing right now, but even that in it's self is a good thing!

I love my magnesium! However, I just want to point out that the links between low magnesium and insulin resistance show correlation, not necessarily causation. Carbohydrate metabolism tends to deplete certain minerals required for good glucose control, and hyperglycemic states cause the body to excrete even more of the minerals in the urine. So carb consumption would seem the original cause. But then the question is how to raise mineral levels effectively if our bodies are so busy excreting them. It requires blood sugar to be under control and limited carbs to help prevent further depletion, at least until we are in some sort of balance.

And BTW, it's not just magnesium. Chromium, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, etc., are all very important and all tend to be depleted in people with PCOS. A good multi-mineral supplement, taken multiple times throughout the day, seems best.
