Sorry I haven't posted in a LONG time. I've had a lot going on in my life recently, not just with PCOS.
Anyhow I thought I might let you all know that there will be a few media articles coming up.
Take 5 Magazine will be featuring a story on Kerri Cottel, one of the founding members of the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association of Australia (POSAA), in issue 21, on sale on May 21.
The Weekend Australian will be publishing an article in the health section this weekend, May 10th, with an interview with me
I got the Australian - you look gorgeous and the info was great. I'm still steaming mad about the West Australian girl denied adoption because of her weight...I may have to go and post in the Rant section!! I'm on the lookout for the take 5 magazine...it's great that finally the Australian media is finally giving us a voice. Hope all is well with you and maybe I'll see you at this years conference.
cheers,
Kirsten

Thanks so much for your lovely compliments Kristen
As for this year's POSAA conference I'm not too sure if you'll be able to attend. It's on the 4th of October in Brisbane and you're getting married so soon afterwards! It would be wonderful if you could come though. I'm thinking of going because I've never been to Brisbane and I try to come to all the conferences.
If you aren't free for the conference I'm coming to Sydney on the 19th of June and would love to meet up with a few Sydney PCOS women for lunch or a coffee. I'm familar with Sydney so I could meet up almost anywhere. I'm staying in Oatley/near Hurtsville.
I read the article but I didnt think much of it- im not being rude but it was so boring. If I didnt have PCOS I would have flipped past the page. Was your friend happy with the article Fiorella?
Like I said Im not being rude but it just sort of glazed over PCOS without too many details.
Hi Marns, I read it (take 5) quickly in the supermarket. I thought it was short and sweet, but at least theres something being said about it. I figured if one person read it and thought, that sounds like me, perhaps they could get some help they didn't know existed. At the time I read it, I thought, darn, it makes it sound like if you cut out chocolate and chips, everything will be rosy. But to be fair, it was only a quick read at the shop.
Fiorella, thanks for letting us know about these articles.
I agree Rhon, that its better than nothing being said and it might help someone out there who doesnt know what is wrong with them, but it was just so blase! I was disappointed because I think it should get a better write up that is more descriptive so people can actually pinpoint that they have PCOS, and also all the other meds that are available and natural therapies etc.
Unfortunately the article wasn't so factual, but then again it's aimed at the readers of Take 5 - which is a light easy read magazine. There was an article in That's Life a few years ago which was a page dedicated to factual information about PCOS. There was also one in Good Medicine last year.
Marnie - Kerri said the following about the article:
"I bought the Take 5 mag the day it came out I'm quite happy with it. It was written for the Take 5 reader so is not exactly what I would have preferred, but I don't mind because at least it is in there and so are our assoc details. The only thing that was left out and I can't explain why was IR as a symptom."
