Default PCOS mentioned on Mystery Diagnosis

this woman went in because she was having strange cramping.. and she had male features in her face.. and the doctors were unsure if she was a man or a woman.. or if she was a woman becoming a man or vice versa.. and anyways.. they ordered a CT scan or XRAY.. can't remember which.. and she was pregnant.. but she does have PCOS..it had a happy ending.. but the doctor called it PCOD.. Disease.. which made me cringe thinking about it.. but i guess their right it is a disease.. i was upset too though in some way because they were like "we didn't know if she was a man or a woman" and im kinda like she's a woman!!! DUH!!

WOW!

Sounds like an interesting episode!

I find it to be amazing that they couldnt tell what her gender was...this just goes to show that people, especially doctors should be further edcucated/trained in this area!!!!

i couldn't agree with you more.. it seems like they weren't trained to detect this kind of medical condition..

Are gynecologists not being trained on PCOS?

I saw the episode that you are talking about & I was quite bothered by it. They portrayed the woman like she was some sort of freak. Then the doctor just casually/generically described PCOS. This is one time that I don't think that the "exposure" did us any favors.
