Today I was flippin through the channels and came across Oprah and Dr. Oz. There was a lady in the audience who had a question on facial hair and the first thing Dr. Oz asked was was she having problems losing weight and was her menses normal. He then went on to explain about PCOS and some of the effects it can have on us. I don't know if this was a rerun or a new episode.
New episode- Didn't take much time covering it (I was channel flipping as well since my son was up at midnight), he mentioned things like laser hair removal and "other medications".... Can't Oprah afford to have Dr.'s from different areas of medicine. Dr. Oz really annoys me.

I actually really really like Dr. Oz. I think he's a great doctor, I would completely trust him as my doctor. I think he would have great bed side manner, he's passionate about health, and he knows what he's talking about. I don't think that he took much time on the subject, although it wasn't a show about PCOS. You can only take so much time on one subject when your a guest on the show.
If we all wrote into Oprah regarding PCOS, she would do a show on it! That would be a great idea!!! Um... I may start something!

Doing Low GI diet as of Sept. 07. DX with PCOS in Sept 07' as well.
Started at a size 24, now a size 14. My waist was 44", now it's 32".
I am on no medication, just diet and exercise.
Thank you all for your support and information! I encourage all of you to do a Low Glycemic diet!
Its just screened here in New Zealand - I always thought we were YEARS behind. I wish he had talked more about insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome etc but I guess that doesn't effect everyone with PCOS.

i also saw that show. i feel for the woman. i was looking in her eyes while she was talking about it. i saw the same feeling in her that i have.
all in all, i dont thing pcos is covered by the media enough. you dont see media talking about any hormonal disorders actually, and they should seeing how many problems are caused by hormones. it changes your body so much and deprives women of a part of their womanhood.
i hope oprah will eventually make a show about pcos.
