Question pcos, metformin and joint pain?

Hello everyone,

I'm 21, recently diagnosed with PCOS and IR. I started taking the French version of Glucophage (Stagid 700) about two weeks ago, along with a high-protein, low-carbs diet. I had very little GI side effects (some nausea and loose stools, but very tolerable), however I noticed an increase in my joint pain (I've had joint aches since I was 14), and some localized muscle pain. I also had a few headaches, but as yet no migraines (I tend to have them as well...). I do exercise quite a bit, and I don't drink alcohol.

I was just curious to know if anybody here experienced joint pain as a result of the met? Or simply PCOS?

I am on Metformin,Byetta, Glizacide and Labetol and I have a lot of joint pain, I don't know if it is met or the PCOS that causes it or maybe we are just unlucky !!

I am having a lot of joint pain, starting in the last 6 months. I'm not taking Met so maybe its caused by something else. I need to go back to the doc since the joint pain is new for me. A while back though my doc said that my back pain might be Osteoauthritis, which may be caused from a lack of estrogen. I'll report back more once I've seen the doc.

I get a lot of joint/back pain too and I do attribute it to the met. I am used to having some discomfort in my joints but since I have been on the met I would say it has doubled.
