Unhappy pcos, miscarrage and metformin.

Help, I was diagnosed with PCOS before we started TTC, took about 6 months to get pregnant but lost 11kg's along the way and my periods ended up every 30 days. Unfortunately have had two missed miscarrages (had two d&c's) since where the babys hearts have all stopped around the 7 - 8 week mark, first pregnancy was twins. Want to hear from other PCOS girls who have had reoccuring miscarrages, are there any medications that can help things keep going??? desperate for some answers before TTC again.
I have herd Metformin can help. Does anyone know about this and how it works?

I'm very sorry to hear about your losses.
Metformin might help if your blood sugars are slightly off, a glucose tolerance test can sometimes tell you this, some doctors put women with PCOS on metformin anyways, something you definately need to ask about. Your doctor might test your progesterone levels as well, I've heard of many women who need to take a progesterone supplement to prevent miscarriage, as well, some who need to be on thyroid medication if those levels are off. Perhaps if your doctor has not been monitoring those levels, you might want to request it. I hope you find the answers you need.

I agree w/ Maribel. I took met for 1st trimester. I don't think my glucose was ever high before that. I also took extra progesterone. Has your doc done any additional testing to check for other reasons for the m/c's? So sorry for your losses.

I've had 3 pregnancies and only 1 ended in a perfectly. My son was conceived when I was on Metformin but stopped after I found out I was pregnant (4 weeks along). My 2 miscarriages I was told to keep taking the metformin cause it's was suppose to reduce my chances but it obviously didn't work. I don't think metformin is resposible for my miscarriages but it didn't help either. My blood sugar levels are usually perfect btw I only need metformin to help me ovulate.
I'd ask to be tested for progesterone, that's my guess.

The information in this link may help you:

http://www.soulcysters.net/metformin...i-take-281499/

Too many women don't take the time to read all they can on the subject, but I would encourage you to read ALL of the information in that link.

That said, if you only read ONE article, read this one:

Routine Use of Metformin for Ovulation Induction in PCOS is No Longer Recommended
