Default Pcos-Mood Swings

I know I have read before that women with PCOS can have a problem with mood swings. I have been having a problem with this for a while now and I was just wondering what you guys do to deal with them? Have you ever had a DR prescribe anything for them?

Thanks for any info!!!!

The only thing I can tell you is when I can feel a mood swing coming on I say a little prayer, take a deep breath and put on the imaginary duct tape. If its really important and real ( not a chemical burst KWIM) I can say it better in a few min.
Man those hormone make the silliest things feel so real is scary!
I hope that makes sense. I struggle with the same thing.

I finally had it too with the mood swings.....my husband has too! Anyway, my doctor put me on Sarafem/fluoxetine(spelling??), which is used to treat PMDD (Ultra-PMS).

I really hate to be medicated, however I sure have felt better taking them. I do feel more tired, but other than that I really don't have the mood swings AT ALL! I still feel down sometimes, but I just don't get that crazy feeling. Thank God. I take 20 mg a day.

I noticed right before my period crap starts. I don't usually start my period right away, but spot for a few days. Well thats when I am moody, woozy and just outright want to be alone. DH has taken the cue and is good at giving me my space.

I think that if I could get my health under control then I would not have such terrilbe mood swings. I have really been feeling like crap lately. And I think that's my problem. I have really been having issues with getting used to this whole PCOS thing.

You're not alone. I get the same mood swings. I'm on CD 8 and last night I had a terrible mood swing. I usually take a deep breath and tell myself to calm down a bit and it seems to help.

I get them too, but I have found that since I've been on Lexapro they have evened out considerably.

I still get them though! I try to just avoid people when I'm like that - I hate being a meanie for no reason!

I am a regular mood swing machine! to tell the truth, I was glad to find out its related to PCOS, I thought I was crazy! I guess we all have our coping mechanisms. I just try to stay away from the people I love for a few minutes, take some deep breaths, and tremember that in a few minutes, I will probably be prefectly fine!
