I was just diagnosed with PCOS today. I am 24 yrs old, 5'7", 130 lbs. I started my period at age 14 and had completely regular cycles (every month, 5-7 days, normal flow. like clockwork). all of a sudden, last may, i had a completely normal period and then havent had one since (1 year, 3 mos.). it just totally stopped. I have no symptoms of PCOS--have not gained weight, no acne/excess hair/skin darkening, my skin has actually cleared up. I feel completely healthy and normal except that i am not cycling anymore. have seen numerous docs, lots of blood tests, etc. vaginal ultrasound revealed that i have polycystic ovaries (from what i know, this can be "normal" in some women). FSH = 9.3. LH = 9.7. all other hormones, etc. are "within normal range". my endocrinologist diagnosed me with pcos based on the slightly elevated LH level (compared to FSH). does this sound normal? does anyone else here have PCOS with "sudden onset" and no symptoms? i really feel in my heart that i do not have PCOS--i feel like it is an emotional/spiritual problem. can anyone relate to this?
Your LH:FSH ratio seems totally normal to me. The normal ratio is around one. Your FSH is a little high. If you google it, some articles say FSH is normal below 10, others say below 6 ..... You might want to ask your Dr about that. To be honest I am not sure you have PCOS. I think you should get a second opinion.

I have PCOS and the only 2 symptoms i have are no af and polysistic ovaries. Of course i have been struggling with infertility. I am 5'9 and weigh between 150-160, i go back and forth, but my weight is normal for my height. I am not IR, have no acne/hair growth or any other symptoms. My obgyn put me on Meformin 2000mg. for 2 years and i couldn't tell any difference. I'm now on 500mg. Met ER and the side effects are killing me. My obgyn told me that polysistic ovaries comfirmed my diagnosis, but all my other blood work is always normal so not sure. Maybe get a 2nd opinion just to let u know for sure. I have been told by my obgyn and 2 RE's that i have PCOS so pretty sure i do! Also i have a sis with it too.

The current diagnostic criteria for PCOS require that patients have two of the three following symptoms:
1) anovulation or oligomenorrhea (irregular periods)
2) high levels of androgens (testosterone)
3) characteristic "string of pearls" ovarian cysts on ultrasounds.
Like you, I only have 1 and 3. Whether that's "real" PCOS or not is anyone's guess (or whether "1 & 3" should be treated the same as "2 & 3"), but that's the current diagnostic criteria so that's what we've got.
The criteria change whenever there's a big conference, and there are some PCOS researchers who won't consider patients for studies without high androgen levels. We don't know enough about PCOS to determine who "really" has it and who doesn't.
There's also the possibility that you were not ovulating regularly, despite regular periods.
Personally, I'm trying for a baby now so I'm on Clomid and eating a low carb diet - without knowing specifically whether I am insulin resistant or not. It depends on how you want to do it and whether you believe the diagnostic criteria are the right ones for you!
You said you think an emotional or spiritual problem is leading to your lack of periods and cysts - maybe you could elaborate on this? I'm just not sure what you mean, exactly.
