Default PCOS: Normal Hormone BW Except For My DHEA Levels

I just went to see my endo in July for the result of my hormone bloodwork... she told me my hormone were fine except for my Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels... my DHEA levels were high by a bit more then 400 then the normal range... she had notice that i have excess hair and said that i have PCOS... so she told me to stop taking BCP and gave me metformin and told me to come back in 3 months... i have an appointment in october... i had also went to my pcp and she sent me for a pelvic sono to check for cyst and another bloodwork to see if anything might get affected by metformin... but everything came back fine... i went to my OB/GYN and she told me that we already know that you have hormonal inbalance and that you should continue on the BCP... because my endo would just want to do a procedure and you dont want that because i am still a virgin... but i told her i would wait till oct and see what my endo will say and go from there... in august i didnt see my period and i just got it on thursday and it stop this morning(saturday) which is only two day without birth control... it was a normal flow... is there anyway i could lower my level of DHEA so i could get my period regular or is BCP the only thing (which i dont mind)... my OB/GYN has prescripted me Yasmin (but i am taking Ocella (Generic for Yasmin)... but when i was taking it after a while i felt pain behind my right knee when i bend down to pick up something and get up... i am overweight so maybe that could be a reason but it never happen to me before and i weight the same as i did before... i am so confused because everything else is fine with me (all my blood work come back fine) except i am over weight and have high DHEA Levels.. Can i take Metformin and Ocella together... can anyone give me any advice... thanks

i really also want to know what is the best birth control for me...
i heard of
Yasmin
Yaz
Mircette
Loestrin24
Femcon
Seasonique (LoSeasonique)
Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo

I have high dhea and my other hormones are normal. That usually means excess is coming from the adrenal glands rather than ovaries however I took Yasmin and it "cured" all my symptoms. I lost weight (was 5'3" and 125lbs and slowly dropped to a nice petite 112) I think I lost muscle mass as I have always eaten healthy and exercised prior to and during Yasmin. Hair growth was stopped and electrolisis took care of the misc. stuff leftover. I also just felt better overall, more feminine. Yasmin was wonderful for me and I took it for 6 years at least and I am sorry to have to have to go off it now.

However when I switched to the generic Ocella I didn't quite feel right on it. Recently I stopped taking the BCP becasue I want to get pregnant.

Low carb, lots of salad diet, daily moderate exercise, and yasmin is what made me feel normal and forget about pcos... until now when I want to get pregnant.

Best wishes. Think of Yasmin like medicine and hold on to that precious virginity as long as you can, your future husband will adore you for it.

Married since April 2009
ttc#1 since Septermber 2009

Diagnosed with PCOS in 2002. Some cysts and high DHEAS. Was on BCP for 7 years (I adore yasmin). Now I am on no medication becasue I want ttc.

I recently started taking vitamins: A, D, B Complex, Folic Acid and Fish Oil

I also aim for a very low sugar and almost no simple carb diet. I run a couple times a week.

This is exactly what happened to me! All of my hormones were normal but my DHEA was about 500. I had all the symptoms of PCOS (NO periods, hairy, overweight especially on my tummy, small hips/boobs, large waist...) After 3 months on metformin and loestrin 24 FE my levels are normal and my waist/hip ratio has went from .85 to .76

ALSO Yaz and Yasmin are the best options for PCOS but I had horriable emotional side effects so I switched to Loestrin (the worst one for PCOS lol) but it's the only one that I could handle. You need a BCP with low/no androgen... here are some sites that will show you androgen activity in BCP's (it doesn't show Yaz, but the only difference in Yaz and Yasmin is the estrogen, the progentin is the same.)
http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm
http://www.fpnotebook.com/Gyn/Pharm/...rgncActvty.htm (doesn't include Yaz or Yasmin, but they have 0.0 progestin androgenic activity)

Well i had asked my doctor to switch me to Loestrin24... i haven't started it yet... i am currently not on birth control... my endo told me to stay off of it and take metformin and i only seen my period once over the pass 3 months... so i am thinking of going back on BC.. i have a meeting with her on Saturday i am thinking of asking her if i could take Spironolactone to lower the androgen levels with the BC and if its safe to take Metformin with it... Three pills is to much... is there anything else i cud do...
