My last doctor a RE told me that my PCOS has progressed to the disease, has anyone ever heard that before and what's the difference? I kind of thought Syndrome and Disease could be used interchangeably.

As I understood it, the terms are used interchangeably because PCOS isn't a "disease" by definition. A disease can be actively treated and has a particular source of origin, whereas PCOS is just a random assortment of symptoms, sometimes with an unknown cause.
However, I'd be interested to find out that I'm wrong!

I wish I had asked more questions but I was more focused on the getting pregnant at the time to think about it.
Anybody else want to offer their two cents?

Yep, PCOS is not a disease. It is sometimes called that, but that's wrong. It is a syndrome because it is a collection of symptoms. There are a lot of differing opinions in the medical community of what a disease is and what a syndrome is. Technically a syndrome is a set of symptoms, which PCOS is. We each have different symptoms and no set of treatments works the same for even a majority of us. We don't know the exact cause and there is no cure (treatments, but not cure). A disease is an illness, a deviation from health, a problem that can be diagnosed according to it's symptoms.
