Hi everyone I am thin and was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007. For treatment I was using a variety of herbal tonics and taking fish oils etc for a while and working out quite a bit. My periods were not regular but I had one every 28 to 60 days and they were very light. My other most noticable symptom has been hair - I have to shave way too many parts daily and have a lot of dark hair on my chin.
Anyway I was very surprised when I found out I was pregnant 3 months ago and am due in early Jan 2010. The pregnancy has been fine, no spotting or anything but I still have hair problems.
My doc said that this pregnancy "was just what my body needed" to get my hormones straightened out. Has anyone had in improvement in their symptoms / cycle regularity after having a baby?
My OB told me that sometimes pregnancy can help the PCOS but after my oldest my symptoms actually got worse and I had to do more to get pg the 2nd time. I just stopped BF'ing my 1 yr old and it seems like right away the symptoms started coming back. My cramping has been awful the last month. I go to my OB next week so I will talk to him about it then.
pcoscurious- When not trying to get PG he just puts me on regular BCP. When getting pg I take Metformin and femera
supersmurf- In my case it did seem harder to get pg the 2nd time. It took longer but it still wasn't too bad. I did have 2 m/c's before each of my girls (4 total). Now there were 3 yrs in between my pgcy's so I was 29 the first time and 32 the 2nd time. The added age could have helped make it harder as well.
my system went all out of whack after I had my son! The first year I figured it was because of the baby, but the 2nd year it was even worse. I just now got diagnosed with pcos. DR is gonna have me take BCP until we're ready for another baby. When that time comes he said he's gonna have me take clomid.
