Hi there!
New to all of this so I don't know how it all works!
My biggest questions at the moment deal with birth control and pregnancy. I've not gotten really clear answeres from doctors. I know getting pregnant is supposed be difficult and I am on orthotricycline. What does this mean for fertility? Does the pill increase fertility since it is a treatment or is it two strikes against? Should I be using additional birth control? Any help or advice would be wonderful!
Thanks
Tara
I didn't quite understand, are you trying to conceive or avoid it? I don't think a BCP would help with fertility, at least not any that I've taken before because they haven't helped me. Maybe someone else can better answer your questions. Good luck.

If I remember right, BCP make you bleed once a month - but they surpress ovulation. No O - no way to become pg. I think BCP are used to treat the 'other' symptoms of PCOS - such as hirsute, LACK of AF, and acne. I would not think you need additional forms of BC.

...will prevent you from getting pregnant, regardless of the reason you were put on it. It is not really a "treatment" for PCOS but rather helps to manage the symptoms.
There is some evidence that for SOME women, fertility is increased the first month you go OFF the pill. I'm not sure whether this is for women who take clomid during that month (a drug that helps some women ovulate) or just in general, but for many other women, their cycles become more erratic when they go off the pill, making it more difficult to conceive.
I hope this helps.
