As I stated in my introduction a few days ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS only a few short weeks ago. As I'm sure you can all sympathize with, my mind is filled with a myriad of questions, and the list just keeps getting longer.
If a woman with PCOS has elevated levels of male hormones, and decreased female hormone levels, is it reasonable that she may experience a stronger sex drive than normal?
I've been embarrassed about this, and yet dying to ask someone - I've always been under the impression that women only need/want to have sex a couple of times a week, if not less. I did not have sex until my wedding night, and to my shock, I absolutely love having sex. I don't just want it once in a while, but all the time! My poor husband... he is happy to have sex 1-3 times a week, and I would be thrilled to have it every day, or even more than once during the day! Isn't this kind of unussual?
Has anyone heard of this before? Was I misinformed regarding the female sex drive, or am I just different? I feel kind of weird about the whole thing...
Dont think your weird, your just a woman There is no such thing as a "normal" sex drive - some women want it more and others want it less, its purely a hormonal thing, and as we are all made up of different levels of hormones, so too is our level of sex drive different.
I too have a high level of male hormones and low level of female ones. When i was younger, ie just out of my teenage years say 18 - 22, I was like you, couldnt get enough! But as time goes on, you get older and your body changes. Im now 27 and im not that fussed anymore This could also be because we're ttc and doing it every other day....
As long as you are happy, healthy and enjoying life, then so be it. There is no right and wrong way to feel. Hope that helps
I don't really think that PCOS has a link to your sex drive like that, but I can reassure you that you are absolutely normal in feeling the way you do.
I too had the same issues that you did. My DH and I have been married a short time and I wanted sex multiple times a day (seemed I couldn't get enough) and he was happy with 3 times a week or so.
We had a few issues about it and in talking with the doc about it he just told us that it is not uncommon for people's libido to change and that was what happened to me. Since we didn't start having sex until we were married I think that made the difference for me.
If you aren't having sex and then you start having sex your libido often changes rather quickly. We came up with a compromise and its working for us. After some time you will "Chill out" so to say and you will both find a happy medium.
The only part of that that tends to be fruestrating is that I very rarely orgasm. Maybe once every two months. It gets really frustrating because, while I enjoy sex regardless, I am not physically satisfied.
*SIGH*

Testosterone plays a role in my sex drive. The worse my symptoms are the higher the sex drive.
Maybe you can talk to him about things that might help you orgasm.

I ran a google site search. see the threads here on the topic. The first page are most 'pcos medication/sex drive' related, but from the secon page on, I think you'll find some additional insight: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...lcysters%2enet

I'm the same way as you are. . . can't get enough! lol! as far as orgasming goes. . . how long have y'all been having sex? I know it took me several years of being sexually active before I could orgasm consistently, I think it's one of those things you just have to learn how to do and how to make work with hubby! Give it time, avoid ruts, and experiement!

You have only been married just under a year which may also account for your drive. There is the old penny bottle joke that if you put a penny in a jar for every time you have sex in the first year of marriage and then after the first year take a penny out each time you have sex, the jar will never be empty, lol.
As the others have said every couple is different, but it's common for married couples to have sex more than unmarried couples, so 1 to 2 times a week is probably a low estimate for that group. Everyone is different, so their experiences are going to be different.
I do suggest you get the book Love For a Lifetime by Dobson which talks about sexual questions and answers especially for those who are virgins when they marry.
My sex drive wasnt high at the beginning. I noticed that lately my sex drive has increased. I mean, i dont mind having sex only once or twice a week.. but when my period comes near i want it all the time .. untill ofcourse Aunt Flo decideds to ruin my day and come. I know that this sounds horrible, but my husband loves it when i am like this.. because he feels as if i am not interested when we just have sex once a week... somtimes i feel the same, sometimes i just cant get into the mood.
i have friends who don't even have intercourse.. i mean my one friend tells me that she hates having sex with her husband because she just cant get interested.. from what she last told me.. i think the last time it was that they had sex was about 6 months ago.. theyve been married 3 years and in the 3 years theyve only had sex 25 times. it's weird, but i guess some women arent interested at all. the weird thing is they have 2 children..
well, basically im trying to say.. its normal i think.. if its not normal then i guess count me as a weirdo too.
ashley.

Thank you I think I've reconciled to the fact that it is just hard for me to orgasm. Honestly, the only thing that really pisses me off is movies! You know the ones, where the chick is whining about not orgasming during a recent sexual escapade. And of course she's been having sex for YEARS and ALWAY orgasms! Those people suck!
Okay, so they don't suck. If there are women out there who orgasm every time they have sex, I hope they know how blessed they are! Hopefully one day I'll orgasm at least once a month? Only God knows...

Along with increased male hormones, I think it may have to do with also that it was your frist time having sex with the person you love.
When I first had sex with my boyfriend turned fiance, we did it so much for the first two years, and it has tapered off. Like many of the other women, I'm not fussed with it.
And be happy that you can orgaism. I am not able to at all. Some women can, some women can't. I can't. Good luck with your sex life hehe!
