Default PCOS - Sorry but a sad story

Hello:
my name is angela. I don't mind sharing this with you. I am a 40 year old female who was diagnosed with PCOS in April 2006. I started taking provera and finally asked my gynaechologist in Sept 06 to have ovarian drilling to remove the cysts.
After the sugery my period did not come. I was worried and went for several blood tests. My hormone levels were outrageous. In september and october 2007 I did get my period but have not had it since.
I believe there was damage done to my ovaries as a result of the surgery which is irreversible. My dream to have a child has now turned into a nightmare.
Please be careful if you have ovarian drilling for PCOS.
thanks
angela

What other things are you doing for your PCOS symptoms? What meds and suppliments are you taking? What diet are you on? What are your other symptoms?

By no means am I trying to be rude but there are many many other reasons why you are not menstrating besides OD. I had OD myself 6 months ago and have had a more regular cycle then I have ever had in my life, and have ovulated every month after never ever ovulating before. I HIGHLY reccomend it.

Like the PP asked. What else have/are you doing for your PCOS?

Hello:
you are not rude. Actually I did see my doctors last week and they said that when I had ovarian drillng it damaged the tissue on my ovaries so I am having premature ovarian failure. I am currently taking prometrium (100 mg) for 14 days to see if it will bring on my period.
I think from all the reading i have done that there is some hope. My doctor even thinks there is hope that my ovarian function can recover. If I can be specific..I have had 2 periods in the last year, I have a small follicle on my left ovary and I nolonger have cysts on my right ovary.
I have started weight training at the gym also to help keep me active. I have even lost some weight. I am going to read a book called "the infertility diet" by walter willet to see if it will help.
Any comments you have will be appreciated. I am not going to give up hope. Without hope all is lost.
take care
angela
