Ladies i am jsut newly diagnosed with PCOS and im a little scared. I have my first appointment with the specialist on monday. I really want to have a baby and my sis who also has PCOS didnt have a baby for 5 years... Ive been trying for a baby for the past 3 years(with current DH and previous DH). My Dr said that they will prolly put me on clomid. Has anyone taken this? If so has there been any luck with pregnancy? My MIL told me that her sis took clomid and got preg with twins, but my SIS took it and didnt get preg at all. Im just really nervous and want to be better. The Dr. also put me on a weight loss medication. In a week and a half ive already lost 4 pounds. I just hope that something will work for me... Any advice or suggestions would be helpful...
There is a Trying To Conceive board on here that is excellent for asking questions about getting pregnant. There is also a Mommy Board where you can ask TTC questions. Many ladies on there conceived on clomid or Metformin or weight loss or a combination of these.
I'm also trying TTC I've been trying for 3 yrs and was just diagonosed with PCOS too! Good luck there's alot of good info on this site. From what I can tell a lot of people on her got pregnant on Clomid. My doc put me on Met and I'm hoping I get preg on this cause I really don't want to go on Clomid. I'm afraid of having twins By the way what weight loss meds did your doctor put you on? I could really use something that would help me loss weight. Hope to hear from you and hang in there.

Find a good RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). Don't settle for a regular endocrinologist, or ob/gyn. RE's are generally muchmuch better at dealing with PCOS related fertility issues.
Good luck, and I hope to see you on the pregnancy board soon!

This sight is confussing me... I keep posting but then it never really posts. Anyhow lets see if this works.
My Dr. put me on Phentermine thats the weight loss med, and its been like 2 and half weeks ive already lost 10 pounds.
My Gyn put me on provera and Metformin (is that Met) anyhow i dont reall know much about Metformin and i dont really even know what its used for, but my dr, also said that would help me loose weight.
I am another cyster that did not find out I had PCOS until I was having trouble getting pg. I was diagnosed in January and started gloucophage (a form of met) and clomid. I was pg. in May. It ended in m/c due to chromosome abnormalities (nothing to do with PCOS, any women can have that kind). I am pg. again (OCTOBER) thanks to the gloucophage and clomid. It doesn't have to take that long once the meds make everything normal. GOOD LUCK!!! Hope to see you on the pg. board soon!
I have been on clomid for 4 cycles. Round 1 - 50mg, Round 2 - 50mg, Round 3 - 100 mg, Round 4 -150 mg. I never ovulated on any of them. In fact, I gained 5 lbs. each each cycle. Later on, I was referred to an RE and found I have PCOS. I am now taking 1500 metformin daily and then 2000 mg daily. I read an article somewhere that some women with PCOS do not respond to clomid. If you are insulin resistant, I would ask your dr. to put you on metformin first because that is not a fertility drug, it regulates your insulin level. Good Luck.
