Hi, I am new to SoulCysters. I just got back from getting a MRI today. I went to the gyno for an exam and she recommended a Pevlic Ultrasound. I had one and she said that I have a lot of cysts on my right ovary and "shadowing" on my left ovary, which could be a tumor or a calcium deposit. She recommended a MRI. I was worried it could be a malignant tumor, but she said it probably wasn't. I told her that I would still worry. She advised me to go get bloodwork, which I did, but she said that my insurance probably would not cover it. I am waiting on results to see if it is tumor or just deposit. No one has called about the bloodwork, so i am hoping it is negative for cancer antigens. For now, I am on Metformin 500mg x 2 a day. It makes me so sick, to my stomach and diarrhea. She also told me that I need to see an encrinologist. Do any of you ladies see an encrinologist? She said my sugar was good but that my insulin was twice as high as it should be. Has anyone else had a tumor in their ovary? I am a 24 year old married woman, with no kids, but might at some point want to have some and I am worried about not being able to. Thanks, boudica
I was diagnosed with PCOS and a dermoid cyst (solid tumor) through an ultrasound. I then ended up having laparoscopic surgery in February to remove the cyst. The doctors that were studying the ultrasounds were right, and it was a benign teratoma, or dermoid cyst. This is a tumor-like growth because it is a solid cyst, not fluid filled like the regular follicular cysts that our ovaries naturally produce every month.
All in all I am glad I had it removed to be certain what it is - no doctor can tell you for sure if a growth is benign or not unless they go in and take some or all of it away to test. The laparoscopic surgery was not a big deal, the anesthesia via IV was the worst for me because I have a fear of needles. I had this surgery done in Italy where I am living at the moment and I was in the hospital for three days. I would not be surprised if in the US it is only a day surgery.
welcome to sc i see an endo for my pcos. I started met at 500 a day for a week, then went up to 500 twice a day which is what my endo told me to do.

Metformin makes me sooooooooo sick and I get bloated really bad and gassy so im now taking Miralax to help with that at times so tired and weak when my endo prescribed it I always remember his last words "Metformin might make you sick but dont stop taking it" usually when medication makes me this sick I stop but I have stuck it out been on it since April of this year 2000mg 2 pills twice a day somedays I am ok other days im down in bed.
I have tried to get on Met so many times and always have had issues, but this time around it is different. I started taking it at night, right after dinner... taking it with food is and absolute, it sort of pads the pill in your digestion, also at night you can often times sleep through the ickies. Once my body got use to that, I added one with lunch and I haven't had any problems. I also upped my calcium intake and that seemed to help
I went through the same thing a couple of years ago when I was 27. I was so stressed waiting for results on what the lump was going to be, but my doctor told me the chances of someone my age having ovarian cancer was so tiny, and in all his history of being a doctor he had never heard of anyone young with it. I still worried of course, and it turned out to be benign.
Hope you get your results soon to put your mind at rest
