Unhappy pcos and vasectomy reversals????

I was diagnosed with pcos in 1996, had 6 years of ttc with no joy. Now have a new man in my life and wish to concieve. The only problem is he has had a vasectomy and wish to get it reversed. Can anybody tell me the the test that is available to see if is it worth having the reversal, a sperm count i presume?

I live in Kansas and my Dh who had a vascetomy for 8 yrs, we had it reversed, BUT they did NO tests prior to the surgery, I don't think they can, because even if they did a sperm count it doesn't mean once they put the tubes back together it would work, you know what I mean? We had a specialsit in micro surgery do Dh surgery, once they got in there, they cut the tubes open and they can tell then if there are sperm there or not, for my dh there was, and then our dr sewed the two very very tiny noodle like tubes back together, we waited I think 6 weeks and had to go back and have a Semen Analysis, which came back really good, as you can tell we have had 2 children together and our currently expecting our 3rd in about 9 days is when I have my C-section, our reversal cost about 5000.00 back in 1998. It can be done if you find a GOOD dr, I wish you much luck!!!!

My DH also had a vasectomy about 10 years ago. About 2 years ago we travelled over to the west coast of Florida and he had a microsurgery done to put it all back together. Ath the time of the operation the surgeon let me know he saw live sperm. I was so excited. So yes it worked His seman analysis now is beyond normal he has a count of 344 mil. It did cost a small fortune but so worth it. I did have a friend on another site I visit go to the same doctor and his seman analysis came back negative. I know the younger the vasectomy is the better odds they say you have. Stinks that we have Pcos and ahve to deal with a vasectomy reversal there both so up in the air!!!!!!! **GL** and lotsa babydust

Smile Not good luck here...

My husband had a reversal and it didn't take. I am happy to hear it does work but it didn't with us.

I would recommend having the procedure where they go in and take out the sperm directly from the testicles and go for insemination.

We had a long over 4 years from start (reversal) to 3 IVF's and one insemination but it was worth it! We have a 4-year old son now.
