I joined weightwatchers 2 months ago and have slowly lost quite a bit of weight, have a big way to go though! I must admit it does make you get quite strict with yourself, especially the meetings on Monday evenings and the weigh in. Although I am now pregnant again, I can't be weighed after the 12th week, I can still stick to the diet(of a fashion, as long as I am getting the right nutrients)
I do hate diets though, but the weightwatchers diet is soooooo easy to follow, and you can eat sooooooo much!
By the way, did anyone see Graham Norton last Tuesday? My DH had a starring role, and I was was sitting next to him when Graham asked him to stand up!!!

Just found this thread after a bit of searching so thought I would come and say hi.
I was diagnosed in June 2003. Been ttc for the past 2 years with no success :-( However in the past 14 months have lost 120lbs with slimming world and given up smoking too. All of you are a huge inspiration I still have another 70lbs or so to go to be really healthy but I stand a good chance to getting pg before then. I am starting to get a bit stuck now as the weight loss has really slowed down so am always looking for someone to kick me up the ass to keep it going.

Points: 1,947.78 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,947.78 | Okay... I'll add mine! Since I was 12 I had only gotten AF 1-2 times a year and knew that I'd have trouble ttc, but no doc could tell me the reason for missed AF. They just put me on bcp and said it was because I was too active in sports. I got a little older and doc put me on depo provera at my request. No one told me this could hinder my chances of conceiving even more!
Fast forward a few years. I was married in 9/2000 and we were already off bcp for three months prior. In 8/2001 I had my annual exam and doc said I needed a boost and put me on Provera and Clomid. I found sites on PCOS and self-diagnosed, but doc would hear nothing of it because my u/s looked "normal" YEAH RIGHT!! Anyway... I insisted on seeing a RE to get this PCOS thing looked into. I had already had three docs in one year tell me my problem I weighed too much that's the reason for no AF. Funny... when I was a decent weight the problem was I was too active, I gained weight and suddenly I was too fat for AF. No happy medium!
I saw my RE in May of 2002 and the minute he sat down and looked at my history he told me I had PCOS. He looked right into my eyes and said, "But then again, you knew that didn't you?" So, he put me on Met. I weighed 226 at this point and started Met with Clomid. Met made me sick as heck, but I didn't even consider changing my diet to accomodate. I lost 20 pounds in three months but plateued. In Dec. of 2002 dh and I decided that we couldn't keep paying money for this stuff with no success... not even a follie! In the meantime I had stopped the Met and was put on Actos, but each Rx was so expensive that I stopped that too.
On Feb. 19, 2003 I finally got up enough courage to go to my first Weight Watchers meeting. My first week I lost 4.2 pounds and was sold. This was something I could do. It wasn't a diet it was just a change in eating habits... FOR LIFE!! In the first few months dh adjusted to no "bad" foods in the house that would trigger me to pig out and he even lost 15 pounds by "accident" just from my change in cooking. It is now 10 1/2 months later and I am happy to report I am only 13.8 pounds from goal. I have lost 38 pounds and in 3.8 pounds I will start training to be a WW leader! This is the longest I have ever been able to keep good eating habits and even with the holidays... I don't get down on myself when I eat a lot of rich or high fat goodies. I know I can work them off in due time. I have gained 11 times in 44 weeks but that hasn't stopped my downward progression. I plan to start my Met again to see if I can handle it a little better on a better diet and hopefully we can start ttc again this spring.
I just wanted to share my story because it can be done. I haven't paid attention to carbs. Actually we eat potatoes, pasta or rice with every meal and my favorite meal is a 6" Subway sandwich. I am IR even though it was the Met and weight loss from it that proved it and not the blood tests. Just know that you can make a difference and stick with it no matter what. It's your health! I can also report that my cholesterol when I was ttc was 239 and after 6 months of WW I had gotten it down to 151 and my doc was astonished! Take control... you can do this! Good luck cysters!

Points: 579.57 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 579.57 | I lost a total of 22 pounds this year, the majority of it since my PCOS diagnosis in June. I have followed a vegetarian diabetic carb-counting food plan for most of the year, but this week I have begun the IR plan. I have been using the "Walk Away the Pounds" tapes and small hand weights for my exercise. I started on metformin in June: 500 mg. for three months, then 1500 mg. for three months, and just now increased to 2000 mg. I also have been attending TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) since May.
It is coming off excruciatingly slowly for me, but it is a tremendous improvement over my usual 10-pound a year increase. I am so grateful for all the education, encouragement and support I have received from this forum. You are helping me to have hope for a better quality of life. Thanks to all of you.

lwhite sorry to hear youget so bored about your diet. If you get bored of meat maybe the IR diet is worth a try for you. Check out the stickies at the top of the page on diets, it gieves some descripions about several diets and if I remember correctly it has a link to a very good description of the IR diet by Linda (nobimbo).
Hope that helps!
