Hello everyone. My name is Sadie. I found out I had PCOS in the year 2000. It took seven years to get the doctors to really hear me out and do a surgery to see what was going on but I finally found a doctor that would do it. (I was about 21 then)
My questions are- I never had a weight problem and then BAM - I lost too much weight and then w/ in no time I gained 50 pounds and no change in diet at all. Anyone else w/ this have the same kind of thing happen? The docs would keep saying "well you need to change your diet. You must be eating more than before" But I didn't eat any different - in fact sometimes I went w/ out eating just to see if I'd lose and still didn't lose much.
Now I'm on the low gi diet and that helps but wish I had known about it sooner- oh well better late than never!
How many of you have the pcos and endometriosis together? I have both but the endo is supposively mild. I also have a retroverted uterus. They also say I may have one blocked tube but they weren't sure if it was due to spasms of the tube during surgery or not. I don't know if that's due to the pcos cysts and damage or endo.
Hi and welcome. I never had endometriosis, or the weight probs you mention. I'm just big!!! so I'm sorry I can't help with that. Just wanted to welcome you to the site.

i could lose weight no prob but then in 1.5 months about 2 years ago i gained 30 lbs with diet and exercise...and last month 14 lbs in 1 week with diet and exercise as well.
go figure. im having lap surgery in 8 days and my doc will see if tubes are blocked and what not,but i do have cysts and a very larger tumor like cyst on my left ovary.... so we are in about the same boat. the gi diet works huh? i havent had any luck with losing this weight, and i have to practically starve to maintain it. i dunno how i can lose it im going crazy
Good luck w/ your surgery! I know after my two surgeries I felt better for a good few years. What is "insulite"? Is it like Metformin?
Yeah I know what you mean about the weight. I'm trying the low gi diet- I have lost some weight on it before. I know the one time I really lost weight was when I cut out almost all carbs and went down to 700 calories a day. NOT healthy but I lost 30 pounds then. Gained it back but lost it then. It's hard to adjust to at one time eating whatever and not gaining and then all the sudden you can't hardly eat anything w/ out it turning into more pounds. There are some great books out there- Insulin Resistance Diet, The Good Carb Cookbook (my fav)- check them out if you get time. That's the only thing that works for me!
