The good news is that I have regained my cycle after 2 years of not having one. The bad news is I don't know if I still could have children. I still have hair in the wrong places, I still have the oily skin and believe I am still IR.
I think what helped me regain my cycle was staying away from sugary drinks 3 years ago. After 3 months of staying away from sugar Drinks in OCT 2003, my cycle came back. I was one of those people that believed that as long it was lowfat it was OK. I had no idea 40 grams a sugar a pop of high fructose corn syrup could do so much damage. But, I still had a lot to learn. Right now, I don't trust regular doctors. I have turned to alternative meds for now.

My skin is no where near as oily as it was and my hair is no where near as oily either. Other ladies have conceived only on Metformin and no other meds.
Please check the Trying to Conceive board for info on alternative meds and getting pregnant. There is an alternative treatments board for those wanting to treat their PCOS symptoms that way. I havent' had a sugary drink in years and years. I am on a modified low carb diet, lots of fruit and dairy, some grains, no rice, potatoes, white flour, etc.

Congratulations on your positive diet steps. Sounds like your cycle is heading in the right direction.
Met really helped me too. We had been trying for 2 years when we got pg w/ our daughter, this was only 10 months after I finally got a PCOS diagnosis and met.
Best wishes and babydust
Jenny

I know IR could turn into diabetes. It is hard to fight it when you are depressed half of the time. I just need a little boost I guess.
Thanks for the info on the alternative boards. I thought I as alone on that one.
I am trying to stay away from bad carbs. It is so hard, especially when I get depressed. Using sugar and flour substitutes for treats seem to work well with me when I take the time to make them.

That was the easy part! Now it is that rasberry elegance cake from Publix that gets me. I'm trying to make a reduced carb version of my own. Got close, but no cigar.

When I'm having my depressed days, I know it's hard enough to get out of bed each day, let alone try to treat this disease that sometimes seems overwhelming. You're doing great though!
Please know that you can pm me or email me if you need someone to listen.
Keep up the good work
Hugs
