I was so surprised when i saw this topic because every time I see my grandmother she tells me about using pee on my face for acne. The first time she told me about it, i thought she was just making things up and it was so gross. She said that it had worked wonders for my uncle after a dr told him to do use first pee in the morning on his face for acne. I couldn't believe it, but later my uncle confirmed it and he recommends it too. I have never tried it, but who knows it might just work

Okay, so since I have another case of athlete's feet, I decided to try this today. I was so seriously grossed out the whole time, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. Once I scrubbed myself down afterward, I didn't feel so gross.

I wonder how many times I have to do it for it to get rid of it completely?

I think if you wash with a commercial cleanser afterwards, you're defeating the purpose. Just do it right before you shower, and don't scrub your face, just let the water hit your face and pat it dry. A dermatologist once told one of my patients not to touch his face for a month. Don't wash it, don't pick at it, just leave it be. And a month later, his severe acne was GONE. So I believe the urine probably balances the pH of your skin, and who knows what other properties are responsible for its effects... but I say if you're brave enough, go for it! My acne has cleared up with BCPs, but if it hadn't, I'd try it!

Sounds nasty. Medically interesting though, your urine is sterile but there must be something in the concept of using your own urine to make it work. Otherwise why couldn't you use sterile water?

Your urine is only sterile to your own body. It is contaminated to everyone else.

In all fairness, healthy pee...that is pee that looks like lemonade not apple cider, should not have a smell to it, or atleast nothing noticable. I'm not freaked out by the idea of peeing into a cup b/c I had to catch my tinkle many times when I was preggie. And the doctor is right, it's sterile b/c it's mostly salt. I would do it. In fact...I just may.
And remeber if you think pee on your face is bad. Ghandi DRANK his urine everyday and he was a wonderful man!

Tried it! Actually, I tried it on the back of my wrist on my eczema. Horrible itchy eczema that I've been having problems with for 6 months now. The first time, it took the heat away, the next morning it wasn't nearly as red. It's been 4 days now and it has no itch, no raised patch, and has dried out. I'm going to keep applying urine (on a little cotton pad) until it's gone. Basically, I just let it dry on there for a minute and then wash it off with very mild soap.
I have to say, how long have I been using cortisone creams on this only to just get it under control? I'm a bit amazed that this had such immediate results. Please let me know what your results have been if any of you have tried this on your face.

I totally understand the "ewwww factor" but having lived with severe cystic acne all these years... I too would try anything! But I'm sure that wouldn't work for me since my acne is purely hormonal.

I think it's all the salt compounds in urine that make it work so well for healing. I liken it to going to the beach...if I have any cuts, bites, zits, whatever, and I swim in the ocean for a few days, my skin is PERFECT. Same with gargling with salt water or using epsom salts. Something about salt makes it so healing. I heard Elvis used to do the washing the face with pee thing.

Hi all.

A question for those that have tried this...how do you apply it? I mean, you've collected it and then what? Do you use cotton pads and then dip them in the urine and apply? Or something else?

I have this horrid vision of a person putting their hands in it, scooping it up and splashing it on their face... you know kind of like those face cleanser ads?

Thanks, Mez.

I peed in a disposable cup and then dipped a cotton swab in it. Then I swabbed in onto my spots with eczema, let it dry for a minute or two and then washed it off. After 8 days of doing this, I no longer see any eczema - not even dryness. I have to say that I'm amazed!

I have the kind of acne that is so bad I would be willing to try anything. This does kinda give me the factor but I also have really bad excema on my legs. I think I will give it a try and see what happens...if it works really well I may just have to see.

Life as a teenager was pretty tough, but adults who think you should have grown out of it are so much more harsh with adult acne. I just might try it.

On the brightside...if it does work...it is cheaper than Proactive...right!? LOL LOL
