My Mood: Points: 1,078.60 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,078.60 | Pelvic and lower back pain. My name is Sarah and I was DX with PCOS in 2005, and I have a question. Does anyone has pelvic and/or back pain so bad that they can't function sometimes? I have pelvic and lower back pain so bad on a daily basis that if Im up doing something I have to sit down and rest within a short period of time. My dr keeps telling me "Take the pain meds I prescribed for you". You know what, those knock me out. I have a two year old and I cant be sleeping all the time. Its even getting to the point that im having a hard time at work. Does anyone else have these problems? Thanks

:Hugs: I feel for you with all the pain you're going through. I know how it is with little ones, you can't take meds that will make you sleep unless the little ones are! I have cyst pain and low back pain. For the cyst pain I feel that met helped, plus I will take Darvocet or the like (at bedtime of course) when I have a particularly painful day or if I have a cyst burst. For the low back pain I take Flexeril (makes me sleepy so I only do that at night) and also my doc is an osteopath so I have manipulations that help a lot.
I hope this helps cyster, and I hope you feel better very soon. I'm here if you need me OK?
Hugs
Jenny

My Mood: Points: 1,078.60 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,078.60 | Thanks Jenny!! It means alot that I have found other "cysters" with the same problem. I just thought that maybe I was just being a big baby. There have been times that I do take pain meds before I go to bed, but sometimes our daughter wakes up during the night, and my DH is such a hard sleeper that he doesnt always wake up to her and if I have taken the meds I sooo hard to wake up, So most of the time I dont take them. I rather make sure I wake up to her then to deal with my own pain. I really want my Dr to do this thing called Ovarian Drilling. I havent asked him, I guess Im to scared too! Have you or anyone else taken this drug called Ovulex? If you have does it work? Im thinking of trying it.
Once again, I thank you a whole lot knowing that you are on my side and that you are here for me. It's so hard for other people especially women and women who have a million babies LOL to understand what you are going through. They might sympatize with you but they dont really know how it feels. And with you going through the same thing, I know you know how I feel.
~Hugs~

Oh no hun you aren't being a baby! Not at all!
I completely understand the heavy-sleeper DH. LOL Mine is exactly that way. I honestly believe we could have a tornado rip the house to shreds and he would just roll over and start snoring again!
I haven't taken ovulex. Hopefully one of the other cysters can help you out with that. If no one here on the newbie forum is able to answer your question, there is a forum just for meds, maybe someone there could help.
I haven't had ovarian drilling done but I have talked to cysters here who have. I'm not being much help here am I? I hope you and your doc will have a chance to talk about it.
I'm here for you cyster, anything I can do to help
Hugs

My Mood: Points: 1,078.60 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,078.60 | Jenny, you are more help then you realize. I have been so depressed about having PCOS. I want a baby so bad. I am having a hard time losing weight, though I did check my weight last week and I lost 10lbs in a month. Im like how did that happen? I wasnt doing anything different. I am on Metformin and that does seem to suppress my appetite, but since Im depressed I eat anyways. I had my daughter 2.5 years ago and with the weight that I gained with her (I only gained 21 lbs, very proud of myself ) and with the weight that I have with the PCOS I have gained a total of 70 lbs. I feel so ugly. My husband says that he doesnt see that I have gained weight but deep down I just feel like he is just being nice. I just want to be under 200 lbs again. Question, who got pregnant on just losing weight and/or taking metformin? I haven't had AF for god knows how long. Probably about 6 or more months and even that was with medicine. I hate taking the Metformin because it drops my blood sugars so low. Before I started taking Metformin I had problems with low blood sugars and Met is only making it worse. My Dr was like thats what its supposed to do.
I love my Dr. He is a excellent Dr but sometimes it just feels like he doesnt pay attention to what Im saying sometimes.
Right now the lower back pain and the really bad pelvic pain is keeping me from doing my job. Right now Im a PCA (Personal Care Attendent). I go in my clients houses and clean their houses, take them to Dr appts, give them their meds, take them to the grocery store, etc. And its getting to the point I cant even do that anymore. I have two clients and have had to go to just one because of all the cleaning that the other one wanted me to do. She had all these bookselves and little knick knacks and I was up and down, up and down on a step stool. By the time that I left work I would be bawling because I hurt so bad. Plus I have no engery because of the Met.
I know I sound like a big baby. I just can't help it. I hurt 24/7. Even sometimes when I take pain meds (usually loratabs) it doesnt even faze it. And the only thing that the Dr says to do is to take the pain meds and to rest anytime I feel tired. So what am I supposed to do, lay around all day. LOL. Because that is what I would do. I know that there is women all around the world that have PCOS, and go to work and suck it up and go on with their daily routine, which is what I have been doing, but I dont know how much longer I can do that. My DH says that I dont have to work but I want to to pull my end of the money. My DH even says that he will get a 2nd job if he has too. God I love him so much. But right now we are living with my inlaws to help out with my father in law (who has Alzheimers) and to pay some bills off. Also to save some money up to get into another place. So I am helping to pay some of the bills off with me working.
WOW!!! I feel sooooo much better to get all of that off my chest!! Thanks everyone for letting me vent. I know that I have some AWESOME CYSTERS here with me to help me with whatever I need!!

you are in the right place. I to have discovered that there are many cysters with low back pain and pelvic pain including me. my gyn put me on metformin 1500g which has helped but its still there. plus he won't do a lap yet. It even hurts in the privates where I get a shooting pain.
Some people have said to me it could be reffered pain. my gyn said its due from the enlarged ovaries but all that pain from them. I dont think so.
Have you been checked out for any other causes.

I really don't think you're being a baby about it. It hurts. I think most people would be surprised if they stepped into the shoes of a woman w/ PCOS, at how much pain we can have.
10 pounds is great! I'm so happy for you cyster. And I'm also glad to hear that your DH is supportive. That's wonderful. I'm the same way when my DH tells me I'm beautiful, I know he means it, I just have a hard time accepting it about myself.
I hope the met helps your pain and your AF as well. How long have you been taking it?
I'm here for you hun, whatever I can do.

I hope you feel better soon, I'm glad to hear that the met is helping some.
Hugs cysters

My Mood: Points: 1,078.60 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,078.60 | I have been taking Metformin for about a year and a half on and off. But this last time I have been taking if for about 3 months. I have had a laproscopy back in July 2006 to rule out endometrosis (sp) and he said nope you def. have PCOS. Its just sooo frustating. Im so glad that I have cysters like you guys to help me through this.
I will be starting again on the Provera and Clomid. I had stopped taking it because my insurance stopped and it was just too expensive without insurance but I have found out at Walmart that its only like $24.99 for the Clomid and $13.99 for the Provera. Walgreens wanted $49.99 for the clomid.
Once again thanks so everyone that is helping me deal with all of this. I have been DX for over a year now but it still hits home just like it did when I found out.

PSS.
Shell,
I hear ya about the pelvic pain. I had it so bad last night it started right below by belly button and went into my private area. It felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife. I just curled up in a ball and cried myself to sleep.

its funny i had to go to the doc a few weeks ago and i was saying to the doc about this pain and the doc said to me that it cant have anything to do with the pcos as pcos doesnt cause pain lol,
i felt like saying to her do you have pcos?
no you dont so dont tell me that pcos doesnt cause pain unless you have it ,
if she says that to me again im gonna either slap her or tell her to talk to all the cysters on here and tell them that pcos doesnt cause pain ,
