Points: 2,356.37 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,356.37 | Pelvic Pain - please help! I was recently dx'ed but always sort of knew I had it (my mom has it; I've had dark facial hair since puberty, but now it's in overdrive, hormonal acne, can't lose any weight, etc.)
I feel like I was brushed to the side by the doctor I saw, my friend's gyno, and am in the process of getting insurance to see someone who specializes in PCOS, but one of the things he brushed aside was my pelvic pain. It's always uncomfortable, but sometimes there's a spreading or generalized pain on my left side where my ovary is. Sometimes it feels sort of like all of it hurts. I've also had to go to urinate constantly, and my bladder doesn't empty all the way - no infection of any kind. Holding water in my bladder for my ultrasound made me cry and shake at the pelvic pain, and then the cramping, and I have a very high threshold of pain.
My mother is afraid that something's going to rupture. She's had 2 emergency oophectomies (spelled right?) and is scared I'm going down the same road. Anyone have any thoughts?

If at all possible, when you go to a new dr, try to find a UroGyn to start with. You may need to have a urodynamics test done to see if there is a problem with your bladder. If you have a women's health care clinic in the area, call there to see if they treat PCOS.

Points: 2,356.37 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,356.37 | I wasn't told exactly what was seen on the ultrasound except that the ovaries were full of tiny cysts, and the xray techs were whispering something about the ovaries being too close to the uterus, and that I thought I had emptied my bladder all the way but it was still mostly full.

The pain could be coming from the cysts. You really should find a different dr who is better at communication as well as willing to treat your symptoms. If your currently not on any BCPs, then going to your local Planned Parenthood and talking to dr there may be an option. It's not quite as expensive as going to a regular dr without insurance because what you pay is based on your current income and may offer a little relief from the pain.
When you do find a new dr, request that your records be transferred so new dr has access to your US results.

My Mood: Points: 275.05 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 275.05 | I am scheduling an appointment with my female doctor to get a ultrasound done. I have been suffering for a few months now dealing with recurrent UTI's. I have been placed on antibiotics, it appears as though the infection clears up - then a week or so later, I have the same urge to urinate, my back is hurting, pelvic pain - I have had to use a heating pad some evenings to help alleviate the pain. I'm terrified, but something has to be done..
Have you received your results yet?? |

Points: 2,356.37 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,356.37 | He did a urine test before the ultrasound and found nothing. So he just forgot all about that symptom.
I was told by other cysters NOT to use BCP because they only mask the symptoms of PCOS and we're suspectible to all of the side effects they warn about. Also, I am very sensitive to them and tried them once - was too sick to do anything, too nauceous, cramped constantly, etc - and had to give them up after a week.

My Mood: Points: 4,074.69 Bank: 3,322.04 Total Points: 7,396.73 | When I was younger, I actually had no prob with BCP and actually lost weight on them. But now that I'm older, I'm more sensitive to them as well. It was only a suggestion for temporary relief of the pain that you're having, but guess that's not an option. I hope your insurance kicks in soon.
