Unhappy Pelvic Pain and Yasmin Help please!

Hi All,

I was recently diagnosed with a mild form of PCOS. Basically I only suffer from 2 symptoms, a dull pain on the left side of my pelvis due to cysts, and bloating. Im quite petite and have not experienced any weight gain, abnormal hair growth/loss or any other such symptoms.

The doctor changed the pill I was on to Yasmin and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms, and how long before Yasmin kicks in! I guess I'm being rather impatient... I've only been taking Yasmin for 2 weeks but I am still feeling dull constant pain and still quite bloated. I am using a heat pack in the meantime to relieve pain and a basic headache painkiller if its bothering me at night.

Your replies would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance everyone!

Yasmin has been the best pill for me out of all that I've tried. But I have more issues than just the cysts. It has helped tremendously with cramps and my period doesn't last as long as it used to. It also helped tone down my acne probs, and I was able to loose weight. But the headaches I get are worse. And it really doesn't help with the cysts. I had a lap where they removed all cysts they saw, and within a year they were back. So while I think it should help for the bloating, I can't say for sure about the cysts. You may be different, but it didn't work for me. I am now on Met and I was told that should help w/ the cysts. Hope this helps!

I was wondering the same thing about Yasmin. I recently started it 3 weeks ago and shortly after I started it, I got really bad pelvic pain. I thought it was just another big cyst, but when the pain got really bad I went to the ER. Long story short (I posted about it in it's own thread) they found I have benign ovarian tumors and that my ovaries are twisting. I might have to have surgery to remove 1 or both ovaries. They are giving it some time to see if the tumors come down. If your pain gets too bad, you need to get an ultra sound done to see what is going on. Please, let me know if you are still in pain, or if it is bad. I hope you are feeling better. This is weird about the Yasmin...my gyno says its just a coinsidence. I don't know. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses guys. It's comforting to know that there are others out there who experience the same type of thing.

I did have an ultra sound and the only abnormality was the cysts or folacles on both ovaries. On the left, one cyst was slightly larger which is what the Doc says is causing the pain. I hope he is right! Guess I will keep persisting with the Yasmin and see if anything changes next month. *Fingers Crossed*

Default Just a Follow Up

Hi Guys,

Its been a while since my last post but I promised an update .

I was prescribed Yasmin to relieve symptoms of my PCOS. Its been 2 months since I've been taking it and although the pain on the left of my pelvis isn't as bad, it still pops up now and again. My bloating has pretty much dissapeared, except for when I'm about to get my period. I will probably go and see my Doctor in case. I haven't yet had an internal ultrasound, but it may be well worth it.

I'm glad things are working well for you with Yasmin. I really do like it myself for the other issues. Are you seeing an Endocrinologist, if not have you thought about it? I'm really happy that I decided to go. Like I said before, I was rx'd Met. I have noticed a HUGE difference in my pain level and how often I get pain since starting this med. It's wonderful! Again, happy for you that things are getting better!

If you don't get any relief with the pill or if your symptoms get worse, you could have endometreosis.

Your symptoms are simular to endo.
