I've always had horrible cystic acne. My face, even when it is fairly clear, is always really red. My doctor thinks it may be from Lupus, but I haven't been diagnosed. What kills me is that complete strangers will approach me and ask me what is wrong with my face. What is wrong with people??? It happens to me all the time. I never know what to say. Then when I tell them it's acne, they start giving me advice, like I haven't tried everything under the sun. They make me feel like a freak. Every once in awhile someone will give me the most unwelcome advice of all "You need to be sure and wash your face everyday." Now that is adding insult to injury. Between being overweight, having terrible hair, and awful acne, I never want to leave my house!!! Why do I have to have all these problems???
((HUGS)) I don't have too much acne, but what I do have is a pain!! I am so sorry though, people honestly don't know how to close their mouth! I just finished exfoliating and shaving, now I have a mask on my face to try and make it soft. One day we will discover how to fix all of our problems. I share most of them!

People are such butts sometimes! Thankfully my acne hasn't been too bad, but I also have the redness. When I was about 10 or 12, my doc said it was rosacea. Then a year or so ago, my new doc thinks it could be lupus as well. And people are always asking, why are you so red? Is is b/c it's hot/cold outside? Blah blah blah. Or they think I'm embarassed, when I'm really not. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, just wanted to let you know I kinda know what you mean. And that it sucks arse. Take care hun.
luv

That's awful and how dare those people act so judgemental and rude!!!! I have pretty stubbonr skin, it's very sensitive and dry but I still get zits, and sheen, it's truly bizarre so I know what's it's like to never win. I am using this stuff called Cleania right now that has sulfur in it and it's calming the redness down and it's helping the zits to go away so maybe you might want to look into it, but
no one should ever say like that to anyone, but sadly there are some truly dumb and ignorant people out there. It's not fair, people like that should be plagued with this not nice people, it's so unfair. Oh well you're beautiful anyways, much more so than those stupid people and try not to let it get to you

that is truly awful, i cannot possibly imagine what must possess complete strangers to go up to you and make comments like that. some people are just so stupid! like often when people say things like that they are not trying to be hurtful (tho its obvious to us normal people that what theyre saying would be!) but just help and they are just to ignorant to know. i know thats not much comfort tho. that is really really awful, people have no right to say that, especially complete strangers. i hope you find something that helps clear up your skin so you can feel better about yourself.
I'm sorry you have to deal with those inappropriate questions from strangers. People can be so rude & insensitive. I don't know where their minds are. Anyway, I've always suffered from acne & the redness. My doc once said it was rosacea, as well. Lupus?! Isn't that very serious? Are you having further testing done to get an accurate diagnosis for Lupus? The only thing that I've found to work for my skin is ProActiv (as seen on tv). It also contains sulfer. It has cleared my skin & taken away the redness a little. I'm starting to get pimples (have 2 right now) but it's probably because I don't use the system 2x per day as advised. I've slowed down a bit. But, I'm still happy with the results. For me, it's worth the cost. Good luck!

Some people are so insensitve. I had an awful month last year where my face was full of cystic acne and of course I pick at my face, which made it 100 times worse. One of my co-workers asked me "What's wrong with your face" in front of about 5 other co-workers. I was so embarassed I know exactly how you feel. Hang in there
oh my! that is so insensitive of people! I had a co-worker who would always talk about the condition of my face...She would really tick me off many a time. But then life has a funny way of getting back a people...I used to have really bad breakouts before I started Metformin...i would have them constantly. So when I started Metformin, for me, my face just cleared up and i would get the ocassional one or two pimples right before my AF. It made such a big difference to me. Now, the coworker that used to point out the obvious on my face is going through major breakouts...she's older and her hormones are all out of whack. One day, I went into her office and she was trying to hide a HUGE breakout on her forehead. I could have been nice about it, but i felt the need to point it out, just like she pointed them out to me. I know, sooo bad of me...but she had it coming. Since then, she's never embarrassed me in that way.
Hang in there!!

How mean! I'd just tell them that you havent adjusted to the atmoshphere here on earth and so its a little irritating to your sensitive martian skin... they'll be too shocked to offer advice or say something stupid, then you can walk away and laugh. I too have not pretty acne, so I know how you feel. I picked up my sister from HS last year ( I was 25 years old at the time) and had the hall monitor lady stop me and ask me for my hall pass.. and i know its b/c I'm Princess Pimple.
*HUGS*
I also have the facial redness and i've also had the thoughtless comments about "Wow, your face is really red!" but i've also had complete strangers be very concerned and solicitous and offer to get me medical assistance "Are you alright? Do you need to get to a doctor?" and "Are you having a heart attack? Do you need to see a doctor?" So, i try to take the positive view that even in these terrible times, there are still people willing to go out of their way to assist a stranger and to be aware enough of the people around them that they still care about their fellow human beings...as for the rude comments, i just tell them i have roseacea, an inflammatory skin condition.....they usually shut up then...
I had an awful month last year where my face was full of cystic acne and of course I pick at my face, which made it 100 times worse.
I have picked at my acne since I was a teenager too. I've always religiously washed my face and kept it clean and still broke out. To make it worse, when I'm nervous or anxious, I pick at it. It does have a name - dermatillomania (sp?) - and since I've been on Metformin (1) my acne has cleared up and (2) I don't have the desire to pick anymore.
Still, family members, friends, and co-workers have all taken the liberty to ask me, "What's wrong with your face?" and "You need to quit picking at your face." It is embarrassing!
