My mom was just reading an article in the dentist's office and she said that drinking herbal mint (spearamint) tea would help lower testosterone and reduce excess hair.
Does anyone know anything about that? I had some issues with hair before, but am noticing much more on my chin now
Any advice or information would be appreciated -- Thanks
Kath

Hi! I'm new but felt the need to chime in.
Be careful with the spearmint tea. I was on spiro for about 4 months and it completely took my sex drive. I mean completely! So I took myself off of spiro and began drinking the tea in October. Surely it worked!! The facial hair began to go away. I am lasering too but the last time I went, there was no hair dark enough to laser! Great right?! Wrong! That had the same side effect! I drank a 20 oz cup of sprearmint tea about 4 times a week for 2 months. I noticed my drive left me again! So now, I drink it maybe twice a week. And yes, my facial hair is back.
Point: Be careful with the spiro and the spearmint tea if you enjoy DTD!
I think the recommended time to use spearmint or peppermint is 5 days during the follicular phase, and something like 2 cups a day. So that may have something to do with it killing your libido! I also read recently you shouldn't use peppermint (not sure about spearmint) in the 2ww as it is once of those things that can also cause uterine spasms/contractions. In chinese medicine spearmint/peppermint is cooling, so it could also technically prolong your cycles (late ovulation) if taken too much.
But it also increases FSH & LH, but lowers testosterone, so that effect can help you ovulate earlier if you have long cycles:
ETA: I just found out spearmint is warming, peppermint is cooling. Both lower testosterone. But if you go along with chinese medicine teachings (too much heat=early ov./cold constitution=late ovulation), if you ovulate late, you should go with spearmint. If you ovulate too early, then go with spearmint.
