Question Perhaps this is a dumb question...

I just got news that a dear friend of mine just miscarried at 20 weeks...She had just found out that she was carrying a little boy. Would it be inappropriate for me to send her some flowers? I've got 3 angel babies myself, although my longest pregnancy has only been 8 weeks, and I know I've gone through plenty of pain every time I've lost a baby. I simply can't imagine what she must be going through, to lose a baby at 20 weeks. I don't want to be insensitive, but I feel like I should do -something- and unfortunately, she doesn't live nearby, so I can't be there to give her a hug and be a shoulder for her to cry on.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

With my first m/c one of my good friends came over that night after my D&C with flowers and a card. It was so nice to know that she cared about me. She stayed awhile and it was just nice. I think flowers would be fine and maybe a card letting her know that you care about her and you are there for her if she needs you.

I feel like I have no right to have an opinion on this matter but... I think sending your friend flowers now would be a lovely gesture. Flowers really mean "I'm thinking of you..." for whatever reason... and I am sure your friend would appreciate knowing you are in her thoughts now. You could also send a nice card, instead of or alongside the flowers...

I think it is a lovely idea. She will know that you care and are thinking about her. That helps a lot during difficult times.

Flowers were the best gift that I received when I lost my little girl. I received them from internet friends. She would probably love the fact that you recognized her baby. Sometimes that is all we need, for someone to recognize that the baby we were carrying was a real human being and it is a true loss.
