I saw a Peri for when I was pregnant with my son and now again. With this pregnancy, I saw my ob/gyn until 7 weeks when we confirmed a heartbeat, then I was turned over to the Peri for full time care.

My first appointment was a long consult reviewing my history (repeat pregnancy loss, blood clotting and antibody issues), and figuring out our game plan. Then they did a quick u/s to confirm the heartbeat was still there, and my doc did do an internal.

For the rest of my first and second tri, I saw the Perinatologist every 3 weeks. Most were very quick appointments- weight check, pee in a cup, check my BP, listen to the heartbeat, measure my belly, talk about any concerns/questions I may have.

Starting at 28 weeks, I've had weekly ultrasounds (just to measure amniotic fluid levels), non-stress tests and quick meetings with the midwife/doctor to make sure all is OK (haven't had an internal in I cannot tell you how long). Every three weeks, on top of what I usually have, they also do a growth scan (full ultrasound) to ensure Baby is growing appropriately.

My peri (or the one on call from the practice when I go into labor) will be the one who delievers this baby.

Good luck!

I have never seen anyone other than my peri, I am part of a group that I see different doctors each time. I have requested that only one doctor deliver my twins so they are going to schedule my c-section with him. I am high risk and they take care of everything down to my pelvic exam. I am 20 weeks and will see them each week untill we deliver. Good luck!

On my first appointment we dicussed my family history, my health and my plans for delivery. Each appointment I pee in a cup, get my weight and blood pressure. Then they look at my cervix and then the babies. The doctor then talks to me. My appointments are usually an hour to an hour and a half long. I used to get upset about that but I get to see the babies each week so it's all worth it!

I saw a peri starting around 15wks with my first dd. I only saw him after that, not a regular dr. when I found out I was pg with dd#2 i immediately called him and skipped my regular dr. all together. He was there for delivery of both my girls and if I were ever to get pg again, he'd be the first one I called! I LOVED going to him. Pelvics were done, not all the time but he did do several, they are also great about u/s as well. they'll want to know the same things as your regular dr. i.e. family history, number of pregnancies, any m/c's, the works.

Congratulations on expecting twins! I had b/g twins on January 30, 2008...what an experience. Anyway, I saw a perinatologist from 8 weeks on. At first about every 3 weeks, then around 24 weeks, every 2 weeks, then weekly beginning at 32 weeks. She also delivered my babies. Because I was having twins I had an U/S at every visit. I was hospitialized at 32 weeks because of a short cervix and high blood pressure. Delivered babies at 37 weeks.

Congratulations! I have identical twin boys that are 19 months. I saw both my regular ob and a peri. I saw my ob monthly up until 32 weeks and then it was once a week. They did the normal weigh, urine sample, blood pressure, measure and ultrasound at every visit. I saw the peri every 3 weeks and they would do an ultrasound and measure the length of cervix. At 32 weeks I had non-stress tests 3 times a week until I delivered by planned c-section at 37 wks 1 day. My ob delivered my boys. Good luck.
