Question Period?

I went to the doctors a week ago because my period had just recently been off kilter. (Coming late or not at all for the last few months) I was then diagnosed with PCOS. BUT... I just got my period today... Right on time. I thought that with PCOS I wasn't going to get as many, if any, periods anymore. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks.

I got my cycle around every 2 months now. Sometimes the cramps can be bad. Ive read where sometimes people may or not have cysts on their ovaries with this condition? Does cramping have anything to do with cysts being present?

Women with PCOS can have regular menses while some only have 2 or 3 a year and others may not have one at all. It's crazy I know... but that's the way it is unfortunately.

Sunshine:: Cramping does not always point to cysts - I do not nor did not have cysts at the time I was dx'd and I have terrible cramps. Have you been tested for endometreosis? Not saying that IS the cause - it's just a thought. Try this thread - there is some pretty good info here CLICK ME

Good luck to ya and keep us posted on how you're doing!

Seems like everytime Ive been back to the Dr of late Im being tested for something and finding that I have something ..I guess the good news is be thankful that they are finding these things. Kinda hard when you turn 30 you feel like you are falling apart .

Where I got a low thyroid and now PCOS I know im moody and depressed. But rather than start a anitdepressant, Id rather get my thyroid in line (which it is now) and work on this PCOS (which all I can do right now is start loosing weight until the next appointment in May). Though I dont want to have kids right now, I wont lie when I say I am very scared at the thought of being infertile

One of the things Im going to ask for is an ultrasound. I would like to know how things look. Ive lost 4lbs so far....everyone has to start somewhere I suppose. Right now..just trying to read, get informed, and load myself up with questions. Thanks for the kind words
