ok i just got my period and it has been 2 months since my last one because i didn't take a break between my birth control packages and this may be to much info but i am a little worried the discharge is a brownish color but there is also a little bit of reddish in it i don't think i have ever had this before and i was just wondering if this is something really bad and i should contact my dr now or is it something that can wait until my next appointment in march?

I don't think you have to worry. My periods used to be all brown before I started getting them monthly with BCP. The brown is old blood. The normal red color is the new blood.

Yep I agree...the brown discharge is the old blood...this has been happening to me for the past week, and today I started my period! I am so excited...
I don't know. I've never smelled But I really don't think you have anything to worry about! You had blood from last month that you never got rid of, so it's just old. That's what old blood looks like.

I'm glad this post was made because I just got AF for the first time since February and this is the first time I've ever had the brown blood. Thank you for letting me know that it's not just me.

Thank god I found this thread !! Need a little help ladies I haven’t had a proper AF since December 2005, I started Met back in March and for practically the whole month of March I had spotting nothing much just a wipe after going to the loo and there was colour pink/red it never came to anything more than just a wipe, last Monday I started spotting again this time it was brown wasn’t overly concerned about it because I have spotted brown blood before, this time it has become more than just spotting but still not enough to say that it is a proper AF, but since Monday the colour hasn’t changed it is still a dark brown. My question is that surely after a week I wouldn’t still be getting brown ?? Any help would be highly appreciated !!
I'm with you. I started BCPs in April. I'm finishing my second pack this week. This whole pack, I've been spotting. I'm hoping once I start the white pills (tonight) that I'll have an AF.
