Default Peruvian ginseng (Meca)

Hi, did anyone try meca root for balancing female hormones?
I read some good things about this herb.
It brings progesterone and testerone levels in balance, as well as increasing energy levels and libido. It also helps with mood swings, hot flashes, menstrual cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, and weight gain.
Any one has anything to say about meca?

It's maca, I think, and it's a root vegetable, not a herb, which means that you have to consume it in relatively large quantities. I haven't eaten it much personally but just know it because I was in Peru last year. It was quite popular there and you could buy it in powdered form and powdered mixed with hot chocolate and in dried form (my friend would just eat the dried pieces, but I hated the taste). I have read some good things as well, although I think it is a food, not a miracle drug.

All "herbs," whether they are roots, actual herbs, flowers or stems, they are all food. Maca is a plant, not a drug, so it will work slowly, like food. It is simply a food with a very concentrated source of nutrients. You can buy it even more concentrated in capsule form, or eat the powder or eat the veggie itself. Herbs work slowly.

Some foods have their own unique way of giving people what they need. Cinnamon is just a spice but has helped me lose weight, Maca may be a food but can be just as helpful as any medication.

by the way i tried it a while back, it gave me loads of energy. But I have been on Vitex for so many years, I decided that it was to much on top of what I was already on, but my mom loves it. It has helped my sister with her period in the past. Her PCOS is in my opinion worse then mine, I never stopped getting AF, so i believe it can be helpful.
