Default Phentermine?

For those who take metformin and phentermine, how long until you saw results when using both? How long have you been on it?

We have been TTC since Sept. 07. Though not a long time, I feel the main root of the problem is my weight. I have mainly anovulatory cycles and I think is due to the pounds. I have cut back on refined sugars and usually eat around 1200-1600 calories a day. I do exercise, but am sooooo tired most days when I get home from my 10+ hours at work its hard to find the motivation to do it every day.

I really do not want to go the clomid route unless I absolutely have to. Our son was conceived on Met alone.

When I first started taking the phen. I lost 30 lbs in a month. One of my really good friends, only lost 6 lbs the first month. It reacts differently for everyone. There were times where I would go months and not lose weight, (which I was told, is my body adjusting to what it was) then I would start losing again out of no where. I ate the same amount that I did before I started taking it. I was on it a total of 1.5 years lost 90 in 2 years. The first month was the only month I lost weight like that. After that it was here and there. I would weigh myself only 2 times a month because I didn't want to get upset if the scale had not gone down. I got down to 105lbs. My fertility dr said I was to tiny to carry a child, when all oither drs have said well even if I loose 20 lbs that would help, and it didn't. I gained weight back up to 165, and my second IVF worked.

The very first day I took it, I was very jittery, and shakey btw, but after that day, never happened again.

I took Phetermine a few years ago. I got it from my Dr. and I went in for monthly weigh ins and blood pressure checks. My Doctor would not allow me to take Met when I was taking Phetermine. I lost 40lbs within 4-5 months. I felt great that I lost the weight and was able to buy smaller clothing but I didn't like the way it made me feel. I couldn't sleep alot at night I couldn't settle down and somedays I was real moody and my heart would be pounding. I kept the weight off for about a year and then it all came back. I tried it again but I took it for about a month and just stopped and know it just isn't for me. It has to many side effects for me. I just don't like the way it makes me feel. Are you getting the phetermine from your Dr? Did he say your allowed to take Phetermine & Met together?

I am actually seeing my endocrinologist for my routine 6 week follow-up on Friday. When accomplia first came out in the UK we discussed using it when approved in the states. Since it is not approved and phentermine has been used for quite some time, I thought I would discuss it with him.
He is very open to hearing my ideas and what I think may help me. I want to use phentermine until july or august and then gradually come off of it when we start TTC again.
I would never take it without his ok. I know better than to order it online. I have just visited a couple of sites, this one and a weightloss forum with women who have taken phentermine with success. I was looking for a medical journal article/research stufy with PCOS and phentermine, but no luck as of yet.

I have been on it for going on 2 months now. And so far I have lost 6lbs the first month and am waiting till the 1st of Feb to weigh in again. My scale says I have lost another 8lbs but I want to weigh by the doctors scale. Another vitamin I am taking is CLA it's a fat fighter and I have to say I have lost more inches my jeans are very loose on me now I have been taking it for a lil over 6weeks. I can definately "feel" the difference with CLA.

Thanks, I really feel like this will help me. Not only in the TTC department a little later on this year but just to feel better about myself. I am having a hard time as I still see the person I used to be in the mirror but in pictures see what I have become and it is so depressing. Going from a size 4/6 to 18 in a matter of 3 years is heart breaking.

Hi, I have been on Phentermine for 1 1/2 weeks and have lost 6.5 lbs so far. I have to go back to the Dr. who prescribed it every month for a checkup and a B12 shot. I do feel a lot better. I also take Metformin and the doctor just asked me what I took it for and he said since I was taking it for PCOS then it should be fine. I have also been exercising for at least 30 minutes a day. The Dr. gave me the 37.5mg and I only take a half a day. So far this has worked to calm my cravings for food. He will only prescribe them for 6 months (state law). I am hoping to lose at least 60 lbs in the next 6 months.

I went to the doctor today. He made me do a 3 hour oral glucose tolerance test because my glucose was 100 when I went in for lab work last week. Since he said it was just slightly elevated, he wanted to check it for Type II diabetes.

He agreed with the plan to be on phentermine for weight loss for 6 months to improve chances for conception. He said if I have diabetes I will do the byetta injections alone.

So now I wait. I posted in the Diabetes forum about the glucose results. They were 107 to start, then 166 one hour after the drink, 166 at the second hour, then 108 at the third hour. I have no idea if this indicates diabetes or not.

Update:

I was given Rx for phentermine. I do not have Type II diabetes. I am really hoping this helps so I can get down to a healthier weight to conceive this summer.

Landonsmommy-

I wish you all the luck. I have lost a total of 14lbs in 2 months the first month I lost only 4lbs because I only took it for the first 2 weeks due to I was thinking the dosage he gave me didn't work. The reason for that was I used some left overs from a friend and it was only 30mg. That was new in my body right? So of course I was feeling the not wanting to eat and lots of energy it was new. Well when I ran out I went to the doctor and he gave me the 37.5mg and well it didn't give me the energy I felt before so I blamed it on the dosage...wrong! So I told asked him to give me the 30mg it worked better this and that I was wrong again! So I went back to the 37.5mg and used the ones I didn't use the first month and here I lost 10lbs that month! So needless to say I am back on the 37.5 and will stay there. I know that I wil not lose 10lbs every month but hey I am just so happy that 14lbs are gone!!!!!!! AND get this I got my period!

Well hopefully taking this drug and losing the weight will help. I am now 16 days late, but not PG (took a test last night, negative).
I have been taking the medicine since saturday. I have more energy and I am not as hungry. I don't think the total effect of the medication has set in as I still have an appetite.
I plan to start exercising, because now I feel like I will either get up early and do it or do it after I get home.
