Default Pheochromocytoma?

Has anyone been tested for a Pheochromocytoma? This is a tumor of the adrenial glands. I went today for this test and a test to see if I have too much adrenaline in my bloodstream. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this or been tested.

My doc mentioned this possibility at my last visit and I believe she ordered some tests. She said that you can tell if excess androgens are being produced by the adrenals or the ovaries and there are specific blood tests for that, and if they are being produced by the adrenals surgery might be required. She also mentioned that in 30 years of practice she never encountered a tumor of the adrenals. She's not an endocrinologist though, she's an ob/gyn. She assured me that it was rare, so I don't think you have much to worry about.

I read that it's a rare thing too. I also read that it comes from taking BCP (I have been on those for 15 years or more) and diet drugs (I took Meridia for a while) so that made me a little concerned.

My wife was always between 30-35 days for her cycle. We had been trying for one year with no luck with ttc. In Feb her cycles started being 45 days then 50, ad the 60. We then went to a fertility clinic. She was diagnosed with PCOS.

Now my wife for the passed 5 years had unexplained headaches followed by vomiting, palor and then fine in 5 minutes. We then started Metfromin, Clomid and Provera for fertility treatments. During the 3rd day of the Clomid, she staretd sweating, vomiting and could not sleep. The Obgyn said it was normal side effects. I later rushed my wife to the emergency whwre she was later diagnosed with a 9cmx6cm pheochromocytoma. Her heart rate was 180 bpm and blood pressure was 170/120. It was on her left adrenal gland . She was later operated to have the cytoma and left adrenal gland removed. She is now feeling better than she has ever felt. Pheochromocytomas increase adrenalin which can increase insulin which can decrease fertilty. We have an appointment on Dec 29th with the fertiltiy clicnin to re-assess and let them know what happened. I would not be surprised if the high insulin caused the PCOS. Maybe it will go away. We shall see. For the time being we have stopped all meds
