Default Philadelphia - Center for PCOS

I just found information for the Center for PCOS at Drexel University. Has anyone ever been there or heard of it?

I am from NJ originally, but never heard of it. I think that would be interesting to hear more about.

No problem. I try to keep up with the news in the area, even though I am thousands of miles away now.

I just wanted to say that I recently started seeing Dr. Anuja Dokras at the Penn Fertility Clinic and so far my experience has been positive. I've only had one consultation so far but she seemed personable and proactive and didn't just berate me about my weight or try to push a bunch of drugs on me. I'll update as I have more experience with them.

I'm glad to hear good news. I'll be in the PA area soon and can wait to see someone for this problem.

I see Dr. Sherif at the Drexel Center for PCOS. She is a wonderful doctor. She took time to listen to me (during appointments) and understands well about PCOS. The down side to me is that between appointments she can be hard to reach and can sometimes take a while to get an appointment. I am guessing she has a large patient load and often "does not remember you".

I totally agree! Dr. Dokras had been my RE since January. She was wonderful! She encouraged me to loose weight and even had me meet with a nutritionist. She really let me make the decisions in what direction I wanted to take with meds as far as TTC. After a few months under her care, I am now pregnant. She was very happy & excited for me (even gave me a hug)! I'll definitely continue to see her to help manage my PCOS symptoms.

It's quite a drive for us, about 30-40 minutes but we wanted to stay within the UPenn family to make it easier for my doctors to work with each other. I also see Dr. Randell at UPenn for the endometrial cancer I was diagnosed with in March (I wish someone had told me that PCOS untreated can lead to cancer). I'm curious about your treatment but I don't want to make you uncomfortable so if you don't feel like answering then don't sweat it or if you prefer you can PM me. I've only had one appointment with her so far and she was very friendly and proactive but my situation is a bit different than most gals here because if the cancer. I only have 3 months (starting 3 months from now) to TTC before my next biopsy so I want to make sure I get started quickly and efficiently. Can you tell me what you did to get pregnant and which way Dr. Dokras leaned? What I mean is, what meds did you take, procedures did you try, natural remedies or alternative therapies? I'm sorry if I'm prying to much. Even if you don't reply I already feel better about seeing her (after so many terrible docs) knowing you had a good experience with her. I hope you have a H&H pregnancy
