Thumbs up Philadelphia, PA (NJ also)

This is where I go. My doctor is Dr. Sali Tazuke. She is great. They are located at University of Pennsylvania (Center City). It's about an hour ride for me, but well worth the drive. Also, it's not that frequently that you have to see an RE anyway. There's also a few satelite locations, including Radnor & Limerick (PA). I believe they also have a location in NJ. Not sure where.

    Carrie,
I'm really glad that you are having a positive experience with them because I was seen at their office in Radnor and recently left their care very unhappy. The doctor I was seeing dx me w/ PCOS and never recommended that I get any further testing for insulin resistence, which I was dx with this summer! She did not discuss any of the health implications or concerns for people with PCOS. I found communications with her office to be difficult and I was constantly being told that I was "doing injectibles" when I was not yet at that point in treatment. To make matters worse, she would not prescribe me Glucophage at all because I got a period every 35 days or so. So, I would not recommend anyone with PCOS to the Radnor office for University of Pennsylvania's RE practice. I hope that your doc downtown knows how to treat PCOS and infertility issues better than mine did.

I'm glad that you posted your experience. Originally the doctor I wanted to see would have been at the Radnor office. I don't remember why, but I ended up having to see a different doctor, which I was a little pensive about because she is Japanese & I didn't know if there would be a language barrier. Well, let me tell you....my doc is the best! I know everyone must think their doc is the best, but honestly, I would not go anywhere else. The first thing she had me do was test for IR (I don't understand why yours didn't). We found out that I am actually beyond IR, I'm pre-diabetic. She also put me on Met (aka Gluco) as soon as I was done all of the tests. She performed 2 ultrasounds that day (vaginal & pelvic). My appt w/ her was less than a month ago. I'm now at 1500mg Met/day & just about past all of the bad s/e. I actually got my period today (day 33) compared to sometimes not having my period for months! I feel great and truly believe I'm on my way to controlling PCOS & hopefully get prego soon! I've also lost 8.5 lbs in the past 3-weeks. I would recommend anyone in the area to go to Penn Fertility Clinic to see Dr. Tazuke. I don't know which doc you saw, but I'm sorry for your bad experience. I hope you're seeing a better doc now.

It sounds like your doc is on top of things. That is great. I don't feel comfortable saying which doc I was seeing, but I think there is only one who practices at Radnor. She was a great surgeon, but she really missed some of the big stuff. I found a great doc in Elkins Park who is an RE and will prescribe Met through the whole pregnancy. He is a memeber of the PCOS Association and he is super confident that he can help me. He's not pushing IUI or injectibles. He seems like he wants to find out the whole picture before he treats the infertility. I think he is going to make it happen!

It sounds like you are doing well with your treatment. Best of luck to you!

    Default Great Doctor in Abington

My doctors are in Abington Hospital. Abington Reproductive Medicine. They are Dr. Schinfeld, Dr. Barmat, and Dr. Somkuti. They are wonderful! The nurses and receptionists are so caring and make it such a personal experience! I am TTC #2 and I just went back to the office after 3yrs away, and they all remember me. They are so genuine and I just can't say enough about them! I have refered atleast 5 people there in the last 4yrs all with positive results.
