It lists at that website at over $24.95, but you can always get it at your local Ross for about $9. If you don't have a Ross nearby, you can order it from www.DeepDiscountDVD.com for about $10 and free shipping. The ab segments are unusally hard (to me), but the upper and lower body segments are VERY doable, and very effective.

Bleh I hate weights but I think I am going to get back into them--- even if it is some small ones at home. I ordered that weights for dummies you suggested Kat but well I haven't done it yet maybe when I get back from vacation next week! Wish my vacation was going to be as relaxing as your Thailand vacation---

Where are you vacationing? If it's some place reasonably priced, take some time for yourself at a day spa. (I recently priced some day spas near my home, and for the prices charged in the US, I might was well go back to Thailand... 5 hours at a spa there costs less than a 60minute massage here. Very annoying.)

I'm going to Fort Lauderdale (not really a vaccation I suppose, it is where my family lives). I can't imagine what the cost of South Florida Spas will be! I started recently trying to get a massage on my right leg every few weeks to try to help it heal faster so I can run again....
I'm going to try to at least do some swimming while I am at home! It's something.

I have a couple of comments/questions about the weight training.
1. The gym instructor told me that you shouldn't train a muscle everyday. You need to do a weights session, then take a break for at least one day, preferably 2, before training that muscle again. He said the muscle needs time to react and build itself. I guess you could alternate between muscles and work out a different group each day, but then it would be difficult to do a 30 minutes session...
2. He also suggested not to do a very intensive cardio before doing the weights, because that burns up your glycogen and leaves you too weak when you come to lift the weights. He suggested a 10 minutes cardio warmup, not too intensive, then the weights, then do the full cardio session. Just thought I'd mention it here

A great workout to tone up that is great is The Biggest Loser workout DVD 1. I do the six week workout routine alternating between low cardio workout one day and strength training the next and it sheds inches quick! I'm doing it now and in my last inch count and weigh in I was down 6.5 inches already after just 8 days. Last time I did it I got 16 inches off in one month! Then I quit and now I'm back on it again. It makes you feel really great when your finished!!!!
Also, another great set of strength workouts are Walk Away the Pounds- Muscle one mile and muscle two mile. They focus on building muscle and there is no squatting and lunging like most video's...so those of you with sore knees won't get exhausted or pain during your workouts. It really works. If you follow the six week Walk away the pounds exercise program you are guarantee'd a 15 lb weight loss, a 5 lb muscle gain, and tons of inches shed...not to mention a major decrease in risk for heart disease and diabetes.
If anyone is interested in any of these programs I would be happy to share them with you. They are all fun workouts..and if you ask me...Bob the personal trainer for the biggest loser is a cutie pie...and perfect to work out too!

It depends on how conditioned you are and how hard you worked the muscles in the previous session.
There are many ways to train.
I doubt that military recruits are given a day (or two) to recover between 'push up' sessions...
Cyclists and runners train everyday in their sport (which works their legs), etc...
To a certain extent, our bodies are 'meant' work a lot harder than we typically do on a daily basis.

Would you consider Curves to be strength training? I already get my cardio.
Karen
If you've never done strength traning before - yes. But you'll VERY quickly outgrow it. Unless you need the group motivation, a regular gym, or even exercise videos are a better investment, and will yield high benefits.

I wondered about that. I checked it out recently and thought it was pretty easy. I will look into the videos you recommended. Thanks for the help.
Sure. If there you're just getting started, there might be some others you might want to check out. Let me know of you need some other title suggests. (maybe start another thread)

I used to go to Curves, and I did get some results, but they tapered off after a while. I needed something more complete.
DH and I just joined a gym (today was day 2) and we have a meeting with a personal trainer on Tuesday. He's going to show us how to do the weights - I'm VERY excited!
Great information, Kat! Glad I stumbled over here!
