Thank you for the info, I know I've always felt way better after excercising when I lift weights. I need to get back into it
Same here. Last year I was able to lose 32 lbs in 3 mos by counting calories and walking on treadmill 3 days a week and doing strenght training 2 days. This year I haven't been able to replicate that loss. Maybe its because I'm not doing the strength training anymore. My old job had a gym on premises so it was convenient. I'll have to find something I can do at home. hmmm...

Ok! Here is how my body works (weird.....): I walk for 4 days from 30 to 45 minutes in a week. Do this a couple of weeks and I get my period........and........ if I do YOGA (de-stressing.....maybe 30 min. twice a week minimum) which uses your own body as resistance (PILATES works too...) I get my period sooner and my body hair starts to fall out. I notice when I shower (I use a loofah).....funny? So I guess the resistance part of the YOGA brings my androgens down. My DH has noticed also this happening to me.....very weird......
Adding weights to my exercise has been the ONLY thing I can think of in the past ten years that has turned back the number on the scales. I was playing tennis and working out, and it wasn't until I started lifting weights that I saw progress. The gym trainer even showed me that although the total number didn't move I was losing fat mass and gaining fat free mass... It hasn't been much so far, but I hold on to that sliver of encouragement
Keep up with the weights and the aerobic exercise ... I know that over the years it's been the only thing to keep my weight down (though I've never been classed as obese or overweight). I find that if I eat mainly salads as my evening meal, then my weight will go down and not just stabalize (as with exercise and my normal, healthy diet which would include more carbs in the evening). So yes, definately recommend weights & aerobic exercise plus extra veggies! :-)
Ps. my mood also stabilizes when I eat more veggies. Anyone else found this?
