I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1998 after packing on about twenty pounds in two months. I got an official PCOS diagnosis in 2002 but refused to believe it until the last few days. Ive been taking thyroid medcation for about six weeks but just started the metformin again. Does anyone know how soon it should be before I start seeing the results of this medication?

Metformin started working for me after about a full month (2000 mg). I have really long cycle with late ovulation. My doc hoped Met. would fix this. I started mid-cycle and didn't see an improvement that month. The following month, I had an earlier ovulation and actually conceived! Unfortunately, I had undiagnosed hypothyrodism, so I miscarried. I am now back on the Met. and waiting to go to an endo.

GOOD LUCK!

If you don't mind me asking, why did it take you 10 years to start taking any meds for your thyroid? It usually takes about 4-6 weeks before you'll notice the thyroid meds working. What are you taking?

My thyroid levels were abnormal but not enough to cause me any real issues, really though my symptoms and my tests are more abnormal. Plus Ive decided to take control of my health
