Angry Piercing Headaches

I am so frustrated with my head. EVERYDAY I have a headache, a throbbing, annoying, agrivating, piercing headache that lasts most of the day. I take Motrin etc. and it doesn't even seem to dull the pain. It's concentrated in my temples...doesn't feel like a sinus headache cause there isn't an overexcessive amount of pressure. I don't think they are migraines b/c the light doesn't affect me and I never feel nauseous but it's a headache so of course noise bothers me and certain smells irritate it. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what are you taking to make them go away? I am so annoyed and sick of dealing with these everyday...

Megan

Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration?

Are you stressed? Getting enough sleep?

Headaches are a side effect of something else (in my opinion), so if you can't find what's causing them, I would definitely go see a dr!

Good luck
Dani

Megan,

It may still be a migraine... I get them frequently and the light isn't always a problem and nausea is rare for me. The way I distinguish between a migraine and a common garden-variety headache is does the pain interfere with my day? If it does, or if I'm popping pills and not getting relief then it's a migraine. Have you seen a doctor - you may need a prescription for a stronger painkiller. I'm not sure what Motrin is (we don't have it in Oz) but I have prescription pills for my migraines that are stonger than codeine or ibuprofen. They put me out for a few hours but when I wake up the pains gone, if I take them early enough before the pain takes hold, I can usually cope until I can get home from work and crash out.

hope this helps,

Kirsten

Aussie Girl -- Motrin is Ibuprofen and codeine is prescription in the US.

Sunstarmoon -- definitely see a doc about the headaches. I would suspect they are migraines. Smells and noise can be bothers just as light and nausea. I too, had daily headaches that nothing would touch and light didn't bother me. I did have nausea, though. After many years, I went to a neurologist that finally put me on Topamax, and I think it's a miracle drug.

Hmm...well now I'm kinda hoping they are migraines so I can get some meds to make them DISAPEAR. I can't stand them anymore I wish I could temporarily rip my head off and then screw it back on when better. Aagh!

Thanks guys!!!
