Default The pill

This is my first post on the website hello everyone.

I had a hormone test when i was 18 and it showed i had a very high level of prolactin in my blood. And then when i was 27 I had another test that showed i had a high level of testostorone in my blood. I had terrible acne, and the doctor thought it was PCOS.

I then had an internal scan done to see if i had cysts, but the nurse said she wasn't sure.

So i dont know if i have PCOS.

I had to go on the pill to moderate the hormones - and to stop the acne. I have just come off the pill again - and am on antibiotics to make sure the acne doesnt come back. And it hasnt no sign of it.

What i wondered was if anyone knew whether being on the pill actually stops the cysts from growing.

I intend to have children quite soon, and am worried that i should stay on the pill right up until im ready to have them. Are the cysts likely to grow bigger when im not on the pill?

I would appreciate any advice any one had. I would also like to know if i have pcos for definate.

I am not over weight, have no excess hair - and the acne doesnt seem to be a problem at all now.

Any advice you could give would be gratefully recieved.

Make sure you aren't taking the antibiotics when you start trying to get pregnant -- particularly if you are taking something like tetracycline.

The pill is supposed to stop the cysts from forming. But some women are different. I just posted this on another thread. I had a lap last year with all cysts removed. Went for an u/s a few months ago b/c of pain, and the cysts were back. I had be on bcp the entire time. Have you been to an endocrinologist? If you're normal doc can't tell you if you have pcos or not, then you probably want to see a doc that knows more about this. If you do infact have it, then there are other med options than bcps to help. I have just been put on Met to help control the cysts, even though I am not ir.
