Default Pill better than patch or vice versa?

Has anyone tried the Ortho-Evra patch? They say it is the same as the pill just easier to remember. Other than not having to remember a pill everyday, does the patch have other advantages? Does it really work as well?

Default patch wasn't nice for me...

Hi there!!

I just got off the patch myself. It was a little too much for my body to handle. I'm not sure if it was because that was the first time I had ever been on BC, or the fact that it was a patch. I'm not sure, but it wasn't nice to me. I was nauseated almost every single day I was on that thing, so I had to get off and start on the old fashioned BC... orally!

Hope that helps ya:o

i tried the patch and did not like it at all and eventually went off of it. See if your GYN has samples then you can try them without wasting your money. Plus with my insurance the pill was only $15 a month, the patch was $30 a month!

Talking

I've been on the patch for the last 4 months. It has good points and bad points.

I haven't had ANY side effects, no headaches, tummy aches, nothing. It is easy to remember, but remembering wasn't really an issue with me, because I take other meds everyday. I start bleeding almost exactly the same time every month (Sunday evening) which wasn't the case when I was on the pill, and my cramps are less. My bleeding also seems to be less heavy.

The worst thing I have had to deal with so far has been the sticky part of it. I wear alot of sweatshirts, and the fuzz from them sticks to the patch. Doesn't really affect anything, but it's hard to get fuzz off sometimes. I have noticed that for a few days after I take the patch off, the skin where it was is a little dry.

I hope that whatever you decide works wonderfully for you! If I can help you anymore, please feel free to PM me.

Hugs,
Julie

PS
If it matters, the patch is only $15 on my insurance, which is the same for my pills. I guess it depends on your insurance company!
