The pill and depression I'll try to make this long story short. As my sig will tell you, I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I've had symptoms forever, and in 1998, I had a non-stop period. I didn't have insurance to do lots of tests or an u/s, so the gyn just put me on the pill. 4 years later I had insurance and decided to go off the pill to see what was really wrong with me. I knew about PCOS and suspected I may have it. Well, this week, an u/s tech told me my ovaries resemble swiss cheese.
ANYWAYS, the pill was masking all the symptoms of PCOS (I didn't have cysts until several months after stopping the pill, hair is growing darker on face, acne started up again, etc). I didn't make this connection until today, but I realized if I traced back my depression, it goes back to last August (one month after stopping the pill). That was when I started having unexplained bouts of depression. So, my question is this - is this a valid connection? Was the pill making me less depressed? If I go back on the pill, will I start feeling better?
Thanks for sharing any experiences you may have with this!
