Unhappy Pilonidal cyst question

Hi! Has anyone had any recent encounters with this lovely issue? About 6 months ago I had a terrible pain in my tailbone and I ended up in the emergency room where they drained a cyst at the base of my spine. All has been well since then, but in the past 4 days or so I have had a tenderness and soreness in the same spot all over again! I have read all I can about it, and I even found a few posts from several years ago on this message board, but nothing too recent. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem. I'm kind of frustrated and depressed about it.

There's been a good bit of discussion on the HS thread. Let me find the link for you.

Here it is. Several ladies who have posted mentioned the same sort of cyst you describe. I've had one, too. I just thought it was a boil. When the doctor was examining it, it started draining on its own. It's never come back.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (boil/cyst in armpit or groin)

I have had it flare up 2x in my life and one of those times it had to be lanced. Wow - I've never cleared out a waiting room before, but that sure did! Not pleasant and possible to reaccur, but there is a surgery they can perform to eradicate it.

LOL. Yeah, I read a lot about the surgery that they can do to get rid of it, but I am just mostly sad that it seems to be coming back so soon. I thought I would at least get a break from it for a while. Ahhh! It's always something!

I had a Pilonidal cyst also and i had to have two surgeries in order to fix the problem the first one they went in and drained the infection off of it and they left the incision open to heal on its own, then three months later they had me come back in and they removed the cyst completely. I was told that if you do not have the entire cyst removed there is a good chance of it comming back. When i hade my cyst removed they said it was easily the size of a golf ball if not bigger. But i havent had it back since the removal, although i do get sore where the scar is from time to time.
