Question Are Pilonidal Cysts linked to PCOS?

Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about Pilonidal cysts? I had a pilonidal cysts on my tailbone a few months ago. It got so painful that I had to go to the ER and have it lanced. OMG! Talk about painful. Anyways, the ER doc there told me that those were congenital and that I would have to have surgery to have it completely removed to prevent it from coming back. Well, I had the surgery in february and my incision is still open but healing. My question is....does anyone know if these are somehow linked to PCOS? I mean, we pretty much know that we were born with the gene for PCOS cause we get it from the male part of our family so is it possible that the two are related?? Thanks for any info...

woah, I know that men can CARRY the PCOS gene, but if you use regular reasoning we get it from EITHER of our parents, many of the women on here have mothers and sisters, and aunts with PCOS, though men do experience certain attributes of it as well.

About Pilonidal Cysts being linked to PCOS I did a search on Google and was unable to find anything directly linking PC's to PCOS, however I found another discussion board where other women with PC's were discussing it and they seemed to be mixed up too! From what I've read about PC's alone I can see the connection seeing as the cysts when occuring in woment hits between puberty and 40 and is more likely in hairier women, draw your own conclusions. Perhaps PC's are not a symptom of PCOS but rather a condition which has a higher rate of occurance in PCOSers.
Hope that helped a bit

Well, I went to my doctor today for my pc, and she said it is because I have excess hair growth in that region

If I do surgery on it again - it will be the 5th time.
